Prompt: Should people take more responsibility for solving problems that affect their communities or the nation in general?

Society is a large web with many holes. Many people believe that the government should fix these problems however the government is not adept at fixing personal problems. Several examples from history and literature show that the premise that people should take more responsibility for solving problems that affect their communities is an unequivocable truth.

The united states was never a purely equal country as we think it is. The civil rights movement was not addressed or even started by the government but by one person. Rosa Parks took it upon herself to refuse to sit at the back of the bus. This small action had large repercussions which ultimately led to equality for all races. Thus, by taking responsibility and solving racial discrimination in America, the people were able to live more peacefully

In some cases the government might even be causing the problems to society. In the Hunger Games, the world is split into 12 districts and all are run by one dictator. A girl by the name of Katniss realizes that their is suffering, income inequality and a plethora of problems. She ignites a revolution by declaring war on the 12 districts. Hence, after winning the war she restores democracy and saves her nation.

During World war 2, the future looked bleak. The fear of attacks, limited rations and the fear of losing made life very difficult. In order to win the war, the Allies needed many supplies in order to win. In England before the government even requested extra supplies, thousands of citizens were ready to donate. Basic necessities including cans and food were given to the soldiers because the citizens wanted to help. Therefore, by willingly helping the soldiers, the English citizens, helped the Allies win the war

Indeed after careful analysis, it is beneficial if people take responsibiliy for solving problems in their communities or nation. Everyone can make a difference no matter how small.

Thanks in advance
