Assignment:
Does everyone see a thing from the same perspective? Plan and write an essay in which you develop your point of view on this. Support your position with reasoning and examples taken from your reading, studies, experience, or observations.

Essay:

Perspectives are like fingerprints, they are unique to each person. Perspective is an individuals personal interpretation of a situation or subject, whereas one might see an uncomely female, another sees a gorgeous bride to be. The difference in perspectives is what creates diversity in this world. It is through different interpretations and imaginations that greatness is able to be created. Rome was not built in a day, nor was it built by a group of individuals with the same perceptions.

The religious conflicts of the 16th century is a great example of varied perspectives. Martin Luther, believed that the Papacy was corrupt and preaching false information about Christianity. The Papacy, saw Luther as a heretic; an insane individual that had the audacity to uproot one of the oldest religious orders in history. Both Luther and the Papacy believed in God, Jesus, Salvation, and the overall concept of Christendom, so why did they decide to go against each other and stir up more than a century of religious bloodshed. Simple, they both had different perspectives. Both parties had access to the same religious scriptures, it is just that they interpreted them differently. Luther and the Catholic Church had different perspectives about Christianity, despite the fact that they believed in the same God. Perspective is such a powerful force in the temporal realm. In the case of Luther and the Catholic Church, their different religious perspectives sparked more than a century of religious warfare and forever changed the course of European history.

Underlining all the greatest problems in past and contemporary times is the difference in perspective. It is the different perceptions of each individual that creates conflict, war, and tragedies. Perspective fuels discord but also fuels innovation. The gift of perspective is a double edged sword that allows humans to differentiate from one another. Perspective, like so many things in life, is subjective, and to each his own.
