Rate the Residence halls!!!!

Hi i was going to major in pUblic health and do pre med and i was wondering which residence hall is the best/closest/ more fun thanks you. I heard unit 3 is the best dorm but is it true? thanks

unit 3. closest to dwinelle,

is it better to get a triple or double or etc? ty

how about for the general letters and science?

probably economics, poly sci, or some humanities. which dorm would be closest to those classes?

jshukster, 88888888 is wrong. You will have many classes in Pimentel early in the morning. You will also have multiple classes in College of Chemistry area, which is on the east side of campus. Bowles/Stern/Foothill would be closest for you.

but which dorm is the best? lol

I think it depends… every year. I’m a ph major the only classes i had to go to pimentel was chem 1a in the fall + lab. All my classes last semester was west/south side of campus. Anthro 2ac was in vlsb, german r5a was in dwinelle. chem 3a in dwinelle. nst in wheeler, math 16 in dwinelle. math 1a in dwinelle. what else… umm psych 2 in dwinelle.

math and R&C courses have highly variable locations.

With the exception of chemistry, everything you listed isn’t always the same place (not sure about nst though)

Due to the high amount of students that sign up for NST 10…maybe 700+ it will always be in Wheeler auditorium.

yea chem 1a is usually in pimentel… chem 3a morning is in dwinelle. how about the op look up his classes and then decide where’s closest haha. but he ask for best… best is people’s park.

There is no “best” dorm on campus. I know public health majors who lived in Foothill and Unit 3. Not a big difference. The most sought-after dorm is a Unit 1 double.

Ick, I’d pick Unit 1 or 2 over Unit 3 any day. :stuck_out_tongue: Just my opinion, but Unit 3 is old, doesn’t have an exercise room, laundry is more difficult, doesn’t have a pretty courtyard, so is not much fun at all!!!

just live in doe. you’ll be close to everything.

unit 2 is really far from campus.

Here is my opinion

Unit 4 > 3 > 1 > 5 >2

unit 3 > unit 1 > unit 2 > foothill > clark kerr > stern/bowles

unit 3 might be old but it’s still gorgeous and the halls are nicer than the ones i’ve been in in unit 1/2

bear market! + cafe 3 which is way nicer than crossroads

and you’re closest to the main part of campus (sproul/sather gate/dwinelle/wheeler)

wth is unit 4?

is that it’s official name or does it go by something else?

Bowles/Stern/Foothill = Unit 4
Clark Kerr = Unit 5

You do realize Unit 2 is close to nothing. I can get to any of those places you listed in <10 minutes from Unit 4. It took me twenty minutes to get to those places from Unit 2 this summer. On top of that when I have morning lectures in Pimentel, I can get there in less than five minutes from my dorm in Foothill. I left my suite at 8:05 and was seated in Chem 3B lecture at 8:09 this morning.

And you do realize dorms in the units are tiny.
Bowles has by far the largest dorms.

But yes Crossroads does suck.

Also keep in mind that the north and east sides have campus are substantially safer at night.

What would you recommend for incoming freshmen? I signed up for unit 3 double first, unit 1 double substance free second, unit 3 triple third, unit 1 triple substance free fourth and any for my last choice. Are these good choices and is it really random like they say it is? Thanks!

From what I heard (second-hand) Freeborn (the substance-free hall) tends to get filled with right-wing Christians. If you are uncomfortable in that kind of environment I would urge to reconsider

Oh damn, that’s gonna suck.

Well, cross that off my list. What’s the chance of a freshie getting a triple minisuite in Unit 1 or 3?
