the riverside CAMPUS itself is decent. the riverside location is uh... not very desirable.

True, kfc4u, although I would suspect that location is very much intertwined with the quality of the campus proper anyways.

How is Berkeley ugly?

I liked Berkeley--the campus--. The area is ugly though.

ill agree with you on that too pookdogg. surrounding area matters too. for example, ucla and ucb get extra points for a good surrounding city (well, most like westwood, and for those who like berkeley anyway)

berkeley campus is beautiful. city... is okay, it at least feels safer than the area outside USC.

most of the UC's are located in good, near-the-ocean areas. riverside is just the exception, although for those not from california, that name is deceiving haha.

To all the people who ranked the campuses by RANKINGS or ACADEMICS… not on the campus: following instructions is a major part of graduating college. ;-)

Anyway, best campus:
UCSC (the campus layout was good. everything walking distance, the furthest college from the front of the school is a 30 minute walk, and frequent shuttles EXCLUSIVELY for UCSC students that circle the campus can provide you with a ride to class if not able to make it correct. Overall atmosphere of the campus was good. Weather is awesome. Campus has a cool, foresty feel to it).
UCD- very homely, educational feel to the campus. The layout is good, but the classrooms are far. My brother had to ride a bike… FAST… to get to some of his classes on time… architecture is REALLY beautiful. VERY nice campus.
UCSB- briefly seen the campus… it was fairly nice as well.
UCSD- very cold campus. Grey. Depressing. Can you say… concrete??? Lots of concrete. No one looks happy there. Campus is okay.

on time not correct.

1 - Berkeley
2 - UCLA
3 - UC Davis
4 - UC San Diego
5 - UC Irvine
6 - UCSB
7 - UCSC
8 - UC Riverside

Berkeley- Cool if you like hobos being your neighbor. Rumor has it, the hobos are past students who give words of wisdom to passing by students.
UCLA- In westwood, one of the nicer parts of LA. Can walk around and go to restaurants, shops, etc.
UCSB- Buildings are a tad old but the beach and atmosphere makes up for it.
UCSD- Nice buildings but the students do seem miserable.
UCI- Clean feeling with some nice buildings and a beautiful park.
UCM- n/a
UCSC- n/a
UCR- n/a
UCD- in a college town since it’s pretty much the only thing out there in davis. SF is a short drive away and good times can be found on the campus.

SIX year old thread…

Campus only:
- UC Berkeley. Seriously. Love the redwoods, the creek, the mist, the Campanile, the view of the Golden Gate.
- UCSB. The Pacific.
- UCSD. The Pacific, but really boring architecture.
- UCSC. The Pacific but not as spectacular.
- UCLA. Suburban chic. Not my thing. (I know, it’s in LA, but it feels suburban).
- UCD. Lovely campus but a bit of a cowtown feel.
- UCI. Suburban bland.
- UCR. Suburban fringe, wretched.
- UCM. Nothing, situated in nowhere.

Top 4:

UC Berkeley - classic, posh, history, rolling terrain overlooking SF, well-maintained…

UCSB - sun, beaches, surfing, sprawling…

UCLA - clean, maintained, spacious…

UCSC - I love that it’s like in a forest…in the woods… in the middle of nowhere…
