RD 2013 Anxiety Thread

nope. im an international student, and still waiting. Barnard is my top choice too, but I highly doubt i'll get in, cuz ppl who've applied from my school are really really good

I don't know anyone else who has applied to Barnard from my school or country. All I know is that I really want to get in because of its Human Rights program! Aargh. I should try to be calm :)

I'd say next week is the more likely time you all will hear something. Forgive me for suggesting it might be this week...the one poster who said that admissions decisions had been sent on Sunday (which I KNOW is not true) threw me off and I was thinking it was later in the month. We only just got through the middle of March, after all! So I am thinking you all will hear something by the end of next week for sure...Just relax this week and don't look for anything...

It will be okay, I promise! Hang in there, Ladies!

Thank you, churchmusicmom.
I will attend the Kang Tongbi Symposium: Women Changing China tomorrow in Beijing.
I am so excited ~ The president, Debora Spar will also come!

Thanks. I really am so nervous about my Barnard decision. Just this morning I received my first e-mail saying I was not accepted by Oberlin. Which is, okay. I really want Barnard.

so i decided to delurk and just say Hi since i've been reading this thread for a couple of days now. I'm a junior, and I'm pretty sure Barnard is going to be a top choice for me next year. :)

Wow, we just keep pulling in new people. Glad you've decided to "delurk", 23p. XD

It seems like all the juniors are creeping out of the woodwork this week...

Yay for de-lurking yourself, 23p. I think it's a testament to the Anxiety Crew's likeability and overall amazingness.

ANDOMGIJUSTWANTMYDECISIONNOWGAHHAHAHAHAAHHA! The last part is a pathetic laugh :p

I hear from Smith on Friday, and since EVERYONE applied from my school, I'm terrified. Especially since if I don't get in, I prolly won't get into Barnard. :(

Guys, if there's one thing I've learned (and I've learned a lot) from this process, it's that college admissions are unpredictable. You never know who will take you and who won't. I know a kid who last year was accepted to Duke, but not to UF. And I've gotten in to a lot of schools I NEVER thought would accept me. So no matter what, we're all fabulous and can't try to quantify ourselves and we can't predict.

/inspirational.

squaregirl, good luck with Smith! Admissions are very neurotic (that just popped into my head and it totally works), so there are several intangibles that you can't control. Have faith that you'll end up where you're supposed to :)

Also, even if you don't get into Smith, it's entirely possible that Barnard saw in you something that Smith didn't. Don't psych yourself out -- anything is possible.

Sorry if this comes off as really cheesy, but I find it works best in a process that can unfortunately be very hurtful.

edit: aahh, mp posted before me, and I didn't read her post. You're totally right. Thanks for the inspiration.

did anyone here apply to cornell?

Great post as well, etched!

I did not apply to Cornell.

I want Barnard to mail now because if I don't get in, I want to go to an admitted students day at NYU on April 4th and should book my flight soon. But if I get in to Barnard, I'm going to their overnight thing so...I need to know now so I can book my April 4th flight if I need to do so and the flight for the other thing if not.

cantochickk - I applied out of stupidity before I realized I was probably out of their league. That's one decision letter I'm not really anxious about. But Barnard! Please! Come on!

mp153 - You're NYU accepted? Cool, me too! I'm going to their convention thing in London either way, if only for an excuse to have a bit of a vacation. Not really sure about NYU, though; their financial aid is a bit troubling...

squaregirl - Heh, I'm waiting on Smith as well. Good luck!

@etched - Thanks! :)

I applied to Cornell, but I did it solely for financial reasons (at an Ivy, I basically qualify for a full-ride), and not for practical ones. Another letter I'm not looking forward to. :</p>

I'm in the same situation with NYU. I WANT that financial aid packet right now.
Any news about what date Barnard will give us the decision? :/
(God, I need to pray to the financial aid gods...)

I'm not even anxious because there's no doubt in my mind that I'm going to be rejected... also waiting on Smith, no Cornell, no NYU.

Not B-nard related, but have any other Smith applicants checked their Aid Awards at Banner Web and noticed they've been awarded something? I'm freaking out, wondering if maybe I got in. :O

squaregirl - They freaked out at the UCLA threads over games like that. I seriously suggest to just hold your breath for another day. Let's prove that prospective Barnard students are patient =)

Bustles - Why so negative? What are your stats?

I think you should all know I bookmarked this thread on my phone today so that if any internationals get emails or anything, I can check in school and prepare myself within the next few days for letters.
