Rd- 2013

Got my large, lovely maroon acceptance folder in the mail yesterday. Said there were 10000 applicants for 925 spots, so I’m pretty psyched (my scores weren’t through the roof, 3.6w GPA and 29 ACT). For those keeping score at home, I live in Saratoga County and applied for Business Administration.

@GCMom415 - we are rooting for your daughter. Hope she gets her acceptance today. Let us know.

@JEDad2013 I am really stressed out today. My mail comes around 3 PM.

Good luck GCmom!

Just for the record I was accepted by Geneseo! I got my acceptance in the mail on Saturday and I live approximately 4 and a half hours away (outside of Albany). My stats too were on the lower end with a 90 average and a 1900 SAT but I’m not complaining! Good luck to everyone else, I think the mail is just dependent on how close you live to the college it seems!

@murradam thanks for posting your stats…My daughters STATS are higher but you just never know. I should know in 2 hrs I hope! Congrats!!

We are on Long Island too and have not heard anything yet as well. I wonder, has anyone actually received a rejection yet? are they just mailing acceptances first? we are really borderline here with being accepted so i am just curious if only the acceptances get mailed first.

@miataman I was thinking the same thing…On Long Island here too…and I have not seen one rejection.

Absolutely shocked, I was accepted! Also on LI. 3.4 UW/3.7W, 28 ACT. Lots of extenuating circumstances and a solid essay and ECs; I also have a 3.7 UW/4.2W this year (now off meds, included that in my app.)

@awkwardcreation Congrats!! When did you get your acceptance?

GCmom…we went through this with Binghamton too…it is grueling to say the least. if Geneseo doesn’t work out it makes the decision all that much easier between Penn State and Umaryland

Got my acceptance letter today and congrats to the rest who were accepted!

4.0 gpa
1980 sat
28 act

GCmom415, I heard today. Many of my friends heard Saturday, so I was getting nervous.

No Big envelope. Small. I cant open til daughter gets home but I was able to see through it. Offered select wailist and Spring admission. I dont know how she will feel about that.

Sorry to hear about that GCmom415. I’m sure it’s not her first preference, but here’s more info on that if you haven’t seen it already: [Deferred Admission | SUNY Geneseo](http://www.geneseo.edu/admissions/Deferred%20Admission%20Program) Does that imply she could still start in the fall if enough students don’t enroll?

son accepted (1310/1600 SAT, 3.6 GPA), probably will not go because he got into another SUNY program that was his first choice. My daughter is happily at Geneseo now and started in the spring a few years ago! If Geneseo is your first choice and you get the spring option, definitely consider it!

Hang in there GCmom things happen for a reason. My daughter isn’t home yet but i don’t expect that she will receive a large envelope either. She already was accepted to her top choices but they are so expensive and i don’t expect much aid…where else did you apply and get accepted to

On LI, S got big envelope today! He’s working so we have to wait for him to open later.

I received my acceptance this weekend. My stats were 34 ACT, 95 GPA.

Probably not attending, applied as a safety. It will be a top choice if I’m not accepted to my favorites and if the $ is really good.

I spoke to Geneseo admissions they were very nice. We could do the Siena Bridge and she can go to Italy in the fall if we choose to. She can go to another college for a semester like Nassau CC or even Adelphi or take a semester off. With all her AP classes I dont think she would lose much time. We went on the select waitlist for the fall so it is possible. I am planning to visit next week so we could talk to someone about the Siena Bridge program and possibly meet some students who did it. Its her choice. They said the admit about 120 students in the Spring and 24 students go to Italy for a semester.
Her other options to name a few are Fordham, Siena, Providence and Oneonta. As far as a financial safety it would be Oneonta but would it be better for her to wait for Spring and graduate from Geneseo or commit to an Oneonta. This is not easy.
So the question is for you: If you knew your child could be admitted in the spring to Geneseo…would you choose to take it…or send her to Oneonta? The privates I cant even entertain until I get financial offers.
