would you recommend bringing any sort of activities resume about yourself for the interviewer?

I did; my interviewer seemed really happy that i did since it would help write the write-up :)

I think I’d just bring along a resume just in case. I just got an email for an interview today =O. I’m so happy!

Also, to AdmissionsAddict, I’m very impressed that you’ve been keeping up with this thread since 2007!

Cadillac–I think T26’s point is that there are thousands of alumni interviewers, so there is no one way they all act (like all agreeing that they will arrive 5 min early to all interviews). For what it’s worth, if an interview is not at my office, I try to arrive a couple minutes early, but traffice and other realities of life mean that I’m not always early. Whether I’m there first or the applicant is there first makes no difference.

Hey cadillac, I just wanted to say that throughout reading this thread I was very serious, but when I saw your “Yo. I be there. Peace.” post… it lightened things up for me a bit.
Thanks! And good luck, I’m sure you’ll be fine.

Haha, thanks Feed.

My interview went pretty well, but of course I’m worried about everything… Hopefully a few slips won’t matter, and at least they got my overall personality?

Also, I noticed that some interviewers will describe the interviewee as “arrogant” and other bad qualities – what were some of the things an arrogant interviewee said / behaved like?

I was extremely pleased with my interviewer! she was a current student at Yale and agreed with just about everything i said (+ was very good-looking i was actually her second interview ever

^thats not an alumni interview

^i didnt mean to imply that it was. this thread isnt only about alumni interviews is it? I had mine at Yale when I was visiting my grandparents who live very close to New Haven.

Edit:
Actually nevermind, she was a very recent graduate, i couldnt remember :)

Are EA interviews selective? Still haven’t received one…

The search function here works pretty well. Good luck to you.

AHH! Just got an email about an interview for after thanksgiving, but I thought admissions needed the interview report by Dec 1? If I schedule for Dec 5 would that mean Yale would’nt get info about the interview?

T26E4
Thank you.
From these sources I can see interviews are not selective. However, I’m just a little bit nervous since the applicants in my region(Shanghai, China) who got in last yeat all received interviews,so…Hope my speculation is not true…

This isn’t for Yale, but since it’s the interview thread, I thought I’d ask :)

So one of my other interviewers for another school wanted to schedule with me and he told me to bring copies of my resume including tests, and copies of the essays I wrote for CommonApp… Is this normal? I’m ok with the test part since my scores are pretty good, but I’m not sure I would feel comfortable having him read my essay as I’m sitting in front of him? It’s kind of personal and such…I mean, I would probably do it in the end, but is this something that’s typical for an interview? He told me the interview is informal, too.

My Yale interviewer certainly didn’t ask for all these things and it went fine.

What are your thoughts?

I just had my interview, which went very well. However, when i received a confirmation email from him earlier, though, I noticed he had misspelled my first name.

I am wondering what will happen if he sends in the interview report with a misspelled name, and whether or not Yale will receive it.

Ugh I know I’m probably stressing over nothing but I just hope the report doesnt get lost and I’m left with a fat hole in my application (will they think i denied an interview?).

Report submissions are linked to an assigned ID number and your last name. I’m sure when the alum mis-types your last name, he/she will go back and discover the problem. Otherwise, if he/she just enters in your assigned ID number, your report page will come up. All reports (nowadays) are submitted online.

Great interviewer. We had a really good time, and she even wants me to meet her husband and maybe intern for him during the summer. I find most interviews enjoyable, and this one was no exception.

^wow. what does he do?

He works for the California Department of Agriculture.

oh cool. man i really hope you’re not a ■■■■■ ;)
