Anyone know when the regular decision date will be?
should be no later than march 15
I spoke with an admissions counselor earlier this week and was told RD will be March 15th and financial aid will follow in a week or so. It is kind of annoying, I wish she had known that when she applied.
@Honorsmom They have had those RD applications all the way back to the beginning of February. Do they even need to read them? So annoying. I don’t think most people would even apply if they knew it would take six whole weeks to get a decision.
They have had my daughter’s since NOVEMBER! I don’t see an issue with her getting in since she’s been accepted to 5 other schools. At this point MU has dropped from #1 in her list to #3 because of the wait.
@Honorsmom If they have had your daughters completed application since November then that would mean you applied Early Action because the due date for EA was December 1st, in which case you would have already heard back in late December. Were you deferred EA? If you submitted your completed application after December 1st then your daughters application is being reviewed against the regular decision pool of applicants that was due February 1st.
It seems like you are anxious(which is understandable), but it also seems like you are holding Miami’s process(which is the same as pretty much every other college’s process) against them. Why?
@EDHDAD She applied November 22nd and has not been deferred, if she has, she has not been notified. Her application status is “Complete”. The admissions counselor said she applied RD, I just took his word for it and in regards to her actual application, I didn’t look at it, I just paid for it. Miami’s process, although pretty much the same as every other college as you mentioned, has been super slow this year compared to the others. I assumed (you know what they say about assuming) that March 15th was a deadline they would beat since every one else did. My daughter applied to 6 schools at the end of November. By Christmas she had been accepted to 4 and the other one by the middle of January. If she had only applied to small private schools, I would understand their speed but two of the schools are quite large, one about the same size as MU and the other larger. I’m just ready for this portion of the process to be over. I’m sick of people asking me if she’s chosen a school, I can only imagine how she feels.
@Honorsmom It sounds like when she submitted the application she checked the regular decision box instead of the early action box. This is an easy mistake to make. By her choosing regular decision on her application, Miami didn’t even begin to look at it until after the February 1st regular decision due date. Had she chosen early action Miami would have notified her by the end of December.
