Haha they aren't going to push back the decision date just because they think we found out.

No, I do not think they're pushing back decisions. I think that decisions are not ready yet. I think they retracted the blog post because they do not want people to think that decisions are coming around the corner when they are not ready. The tone of post made it seem that they were about to put decisions up, and they did not want people to infer that so they took it off.

Remember that EA had a decrease of applications, but RD had quite an increase -- so they have more to review. So it is plausible for them to take longer to review the files. Plus, they technically have more essays to read this year. They have the Commonapp essay, their supplemental essay, the Why Chicago essay, and potentially the essay about our favorite book/movie/poem etc. So, it would take longer to review each file.

^ perhaps you're correct..maybe we will have to wait longer.

i know we're all kind of freaking out on this buuuut... i suppose they'll post them when they post them. the speculation won't really change anything :|

that's right but it's honestly been one helluva ride..

Where is the status page you guys?

Hey - good luck from the Penn boards, I guess I should say! I was serious for a while about applying to Chicago, did a summer program, etc. I kind of caught Chicago-fever for a while; I don't think I need to explain to any of you what that's like. But anyways, this institution is close to my heart and seeing all of you freak out in anticipation is so reminiscent of getting my Penn decision. You will all be fine (trust me) and I'm also very excited for you... here's to hoping that the waiting game does indeed end this afternoon for you guys.

thanks for the good wishes, in_rainbows - i'm hoping that's an allusion to the radiohead album? :) - and congratulations on penn! i really hope today's the day!

@ in_rainbows : thanks a lot and heartiest congratulations on Penn..

It has to be THIS WEEK - probably today.... the Campus is on Spring Break

Here's what's posted on the U of C Calendar:
Spring Break–NO SCHOOL
When: Monday, March 16, 2009 - Fri, March 27, 2009
Description: No School for students and faculty.
Keywords: All, Admission, Alumni Development

It makes sense that they want to get out of town
now so they can at least have one week of vacation
during Spring break...right?

in_rainbows, when did you do a summer program at uchicago? I wonder if we perhaps attended at the same time...(second session, before junior year?)

I am a first-year student at the University of Chicago. If certain indicators are working in the same way that they did last year, decisions will be released online tonight at 5 PM central time. You will receive an e-mail notifying you that a decision is ready, and it will prompt you to click on a link that leads back to the college's admissions website. Good luck and congratulations to the accepted students.

Yep, the Radiohead album! One of their best. Scribbler91, I attended this past summer, not the summer before. It honestly feels like yesterday; I stayed in Max Pavlevsky, frequented the Reg, took a class in that main quadrangle... once I was walking through the quad and saw that someone had given Kurt Vonnegut a shout-out ("So it goes") on one of the buildings. I love UChicago.

Ahhh, I want them to be today but I don't. I'm convinced I'm rejected.

I think i will also receive rejection...
I'm an intl' applicant from Canada applying for aid so...

check this twitter update..
university of chicago decision - Twitter Search

^ Interesting, but from 17 hours ago? Seems a little bit iffy.

^ are you sure is now?? like 2009 not last year? if it's today she knows already her result which means we are almost there!!!! scary! i think i don't want to know anymore!:'(

^ Chocolat, the twitter update was posted 17 hours ago. Stated under the actual post :O. I'm sure if it was from last year, it would say "about 1 year ago".

haha, this means we've all be accepted...:))
that's strange...somebody told be today that I guy in my school was rejected from Stanford a few days ago (although Stanford hasn't officially released their decisions)...so the twitter thing seems plausible
