If Balaylay's right, we might as well start talking about how much fun we're having from all this waiting and constant refreshing. But since I just said this, they know our plans so they won't post it anyway.

i thought for sure that chicago was going to be one of the first schools that notify me ...it was trumped by both rice and cmu...the schools i leaste expeced....

Yet another day with no notification...
I'm bored out of my mind, and no American Idol to distract me 'cos of Obama...

Hm... Do you think 10p.m. CST would work for UChicago?

uhh, how about we just stay up until midnight...that way, its' technically "wednesday"

I'm sorry in advance... this is just jealousy... but it kinda makes me mad when people don't really even want to go to UChicago, but just apply so they can get the rush of an acceptance letter... I am not the perfect applicant and it really sucks when these people take the spots of the kids who don't really have the chance at other schools. Then the applicants who really really really want to attend get wait-listed or rejected... It really does suck. With that being said I wish EVERYONE that did apply the best of luck.

^^^^People need to stop whining about this....

Seriously, think about it. Colleges take into account the people who will not attend. Their class size will be the same no matter what. If fewer people who wouldn't ultimately wind up attending applied, fewer people would be accepted. Colleges take yield into consideration when they choose how many people to accept.

(This comment is to Temay) ^I'm not saying I'm for or against what you are saying, but you have to remember that YOU only need ONE spot; it's not like you need every single spot and every single person applying (whether or not they so want to go) is preventing you from getting a fair shot. Remember, you just need ONE seat out of a possible, what, 1500 - 2000? Relax...please.

So, you're saying that, a person cannot undergo an "epiphany" and suddenly change his/her mind about a school, especially after submitting application?

I love UChicago, and my UChicago actually lasted for 2 hours. My interviewer and I talked just about everything, but UChicago is not that pre-med friendly, and my interviewer did warn me about it.

I have a real good feeling it will come out tomorrow. I remember calling the admissions office distinctively and they said early next week (which is this week).

But please don't bank on me being true. I just gave my speculation and assumption based on what I heard. Seriously, I'm just enjoying being the undecided applicant because as of tomorrow there is a huge possibility I'll be a reject.

All of you who got interviews are so lucky!

:) I said sorry in advance for a reason, I just think it is way to stressful (for all of us), I just really despise the wait-list... I have been deferred and wait-listed and now i'm just starting to panic... I didn't mean to offend anyone at all :) I just would like one acceptance letter, just one...

temay, i commend you for your bravery in posting something like that. While you did apologize in advance, you can't honestly expect people not to attack you. unfortunately, it is not in our hands who gets in and who gets waitlisted...the colleges realize all of your concerns and really do try to accept a class that truely shows demonstrated interested. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, as you demonstrated, but everyone is also entitled to applying to whatever college they choose to without feeling guilty or being reprimanded

I'm not a perfect applicant either but I have honestly put everything out there on my application and would be very disappointed if I'm rejected, because I love everything about UChicago. My only hope is that they don't see me as someone who will fall behind and give me a chance. Not sure if that's how the world of college applications works though :)

Dude, relax. Nobody's taking your spot. Chicago accepts at least twice more than it can take, and waitlists the next-in-line people as well. I'm thinking the WL will be even longer this year, judging from the trend.

In all honesty, though, most people are, at their core, very selfish. Hence the people who got into the very top of the top schools early but keep a handful of applications anyway, even though they know the chance of them attending is very slim. I'm not saying i'm not guilty of the same thing. You CAN say that these people are selfish, self absorbed @sses, but they are NOT taking your spot. If you deserve one, you will get one.

I hope people will start making the college application process about THEM, and not someone else.

peace

Well I think that's why UChicago has applicants write those quirky essays. It might not be true for everyone, but if people apply just to see if they can get in or not, it'll definitely show up in their essays. Or at least I hope so...:o

^ totally did in my case.
Which is why i'm just curious to find out the result and not banking on anything :D

You guys need to stop attacking Temay. He/She just prolly going through the stress of college process. No need for all the fuss.

I wasn't attacking Temay! I can actually empathize with her. I've had four rejections so far, so things are not looking too great for the future. Especially because the colleges that I'm supposed to hear from are more selective than the ones I got straight No's from. Urgh. And you guys are lucky, because if you don't get in now you can always try for the Class of 2014. I'm turning 21 this year (in my country we graduate when we're 19) and if I don't get to college this year, I'm going to be far, far behind :(

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed!

today is the day.
