RD Decisions

Seriously US is the only country were we as International students can even expect to get some money. I can’t study for free even in my own country but I have received a full ride merit scholarship at an American state university so I am very very grateful to the Americans; you people are really very generous.

As a young student who had worked really hard in school and for the SAT to get accepted to one of the dream schools, I was naturally sad and depressed to get rejected, everybody else would have too. It is true, Americans deserve much more money than we as internationals deserve but rejections hurt everybody! :frowning:

Leaving all these things aside, I wish all Lafayette applicants, Americans and Internationals, all the very best! :)

@latina: link please… I cannot see that on the facebook admission page :(

Redirecting...;

Here’s the link. On the right side, first box :)

hmm… Thanks laina… but it’s not today they are releasing, it’s tomorrow, on 26th…
time during the work day they say it is…
That means we have 19 hrs or so, left…
good luck to everyone :)

Ohhh, right, I’m in South Korea which is a day ahead. I got confused with the clock on my computer… sorry for confusing you guys :stuck_out_tongue: anyways, good luck everybody :)

Thanks Laina17!

@robcol I have no hate against internationals and I find them a great asset to any college, but my point is that most people here can barely afford college. The government does not treat many of us especially well. They doubled the interest rate on loans (effective next year, of course!) and from the 2 financial aid packages I’ve received so far, the government money is insignificant compared to the overall cost of the college and most of the money is loans. I get that everyone has a different situation but I know that I am in much need of aid (divorced parents, one is unemployed) and I’ve seen how it all breaks down and the school (especially if it’s a private school) foots most of the aid. That being said, I do not think internationals “steal” our money but I’m saying that it makes perfect sense that US citizens come first in receiving money from an American college. I think internationals add a lot to the college community and I wish we could have more, but it just really sucks for everybody that there isn’t always the money for that. I wish you luck with getting into Lafayette and hopefully getting some money from them!
I called Lafayette admissions today and they said that decisions are being mailed out tomorrow and wednesday so most of us should receive them by the end of the week!

Hi everyone, I’m a little bit confused. To domestic applicants, are decisions mailed or found online? And if so, were they mailed today or are they being mailed tomorrow (march 26th)

Yes I am saying the same thing: I also understand that it is very logical for the US government to support its own citizens first! There is nothing wrong with this. I just expressed my wish that there was more funds available to everyone, so that admit rate wouldn’t drop just because you also apply for financial aid. However, considering the current economic situation, my wish is only a dream that will probably become never a reality. We are expressing the same things, but I don’t get why we still argue.

^ true that… There’s no reason to argue…
We are all on the same side…

With that said… let’s end the discussion

And brace yourselves guys, decisions will be out very soon… may be within an hour… :)

Hey everyone! I’ve been reading their Facebook page and to all international applicants (myself included, I’m in Australia) that they’re emailing the decisions March 25th (Eastern Standard Time). I hope this has cleared up anything inquiries!

Good luck to all of you!!

I’m really crossing my fingers for Lafayette – I’ve been rejected by five universities already and it’s starting to get to me.

Has anybody received any email from Lafayette yet?

Nope… Not yet…

Are they even releasing decisions today?

That’s what their Facebook page says, I hope they do release the decisions today. I want to get done with all these colleges before the Ivys release their decisions.

Just now I e-mailed them ( and mentioned I was international)
They said the decisions will be released in next couple of days…
I was like FTW!!.
Hope that’s not for internationals…
Oh God, this wait is killing me…
aghhh!!

I received the same reply:

Yet their Facebook page does mention that the admission decisions will be emailed to International students today.

^If that’s what they really said, I am sure that today is not the day…
I think I am not gonna wait more…

Best of luck fellas’… time to go to bed…

PS: They might be doing this so that both national and international students could receive decisions on the same day… I am not sure though…
Time to screw that information on the facebook page…

Lafayette’s Facebook page also has a photo that was posted about 10 minutes ago showing admissions officer Matt Hyde taking the last of the admission letters to the PO to be mailed. Those are for domestic students, I’d imagine. Internationals are normally notified first by e-mail.
