RD Decisions

congrats nikkonikko! I mean no harm in saying this but the reason you may have been accepted over applicants you yourself say are more qualified is in your second bullet- “Pacific Islander”. Colleges, especially typically homogeneous colleges such as Lafayette are desperate to diversify.

waitlisted…and kind of surprised because Lafayette was right in my range…and robbob the letter thing annoyed me a lot too. But I don’t care too much because I never got the best vibes from Lafayette’s admission staff (several unanswered emails, never returned calls, etc.) and that really turned me off to the school, but the Director of Admissions was really nice when I interviewed with him (and he told me I was borderline Marquis scholarship…then I got waitlisted hahah). But, congrats to everyone going there, it is a great school and good luck to anyone on the wait list!

The thing is Lafayette was my top choice for a while and it sucks that I got wait listed buttttt yesterday I also got into Lehigh so Lafayette can suck it! Go Lehigh!

robbob, It can seem random which colleges you get into that are “within your range” There are more qualified candidates than spots. My son got the reverse of you. Waitlisted at Bucknell and in to Lafayette, and both of his parents and aunt went to Bucknell. I think Lafayette is a better fit for him. You have to have faith in the process. You are now in control. Make the college you go to your #1 choice.

Nothing for me in Florida again today. I’m getting really nervous.

Bp001 - good advice.

I must say, I knew nothing about Lehigh/Lafayette/Bucknell before starting the college search with my son. I was impressed with all three during our visits but they definitely each had their own vibe. As my son is going into Enineering, he decided to apply to all three. Based on his stats being in the top 25% of their candidates and what I saw from the schools’ stats, I thought he had a very good chance to get accepted to all three.

First heard from Lehigh, accepted and invited to their Diversity Life Weekend. Then heard from Bucknell expecting to be accepted and got waitlisted. Now waiting on Lafayette. He decided during the waiting period that Lehigh was the best fit for him but that he would strongly consider Lafayette if accepted. I thought he had a great chance at the Marquis thing but I am assuming that’s out the door now. We are away on Spring Break now and won’t be seeing our mail for a week. Called Lafayette yesterday and they said there was no way to get the results over the phone :(. Hoping he gets accepted so he can make a final evaluation of the two and the best place for him.

I’ve certainly learned that there often appears to be no clear logic for why the same kid gets varied results across these “selective” schools. You just have to keep the faith that they are all fantastic schools and you will have an amazing experience and education if you put the work and effort into it.

Hey,

Has any international student received his/her decision. I am from Nepal and haven’t heard from the college yet.

Waitlisted. The waiting list letter stating “class of 2016” when it should read class of 2017, and the many unanswered emails shows a high degree of disorganization in the admissions office. Truly, disappointing.

@atibrewal: I am an international student and I got my decision e-mail last Tuesday. I think you should either call or e-mail them

Bp0001; We are from Lutherville. . .so close to you!

Accepted!
3.3 UW/4.4 W GPA, 33 ACT.

A lot time passed since the decisions were released, but
FOR FUTURE INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS wantıng FINANCIAL AID:
Lafayette has a priority deadline for the financial aid. It was December 9th or something very close for the last admission cycle. If you apply regular decision, I advise you to send your application and financial aid documents before that date. I don’t know how much it helps, but I believe it helps a lot.
