I'll be applying RD and I have contacted my EC but there is something that I don't understand. This may be a mistake because my EC had just gotten back from the dentist so he might not have been completely aware of what was happening.

so, he told me that the last day that he recommended me to do the interview was beofre december 15th because everyone left for vacations afterwards and they wouldn't receive his letter.

but this seems a little too early for RD to me. I remember that people at my school did interivews in january and february. am i wrong?

I have to call him again but this time i want to be sure.
thanks

Your EC is most likely inaccurate or has been misunderstood if the claim is that he said that “everyone left for vacations afterwards and they wouldn’t receive his letter.” We are encouraged to submit all interview reports on-line and from the moment that I click “SUBMIT” then MIT has the report on file, even if I do that on New Year’s Eve.

That being said, the EC was largely right about the calendar. The deadline for EC’s to submit our interview reports to MIT is Wednesday January 6th. While it is theoretically possible to do an interview as late as the morning of 6 January, it is certainly not recommended. Indeed I too prefer to hold all of my interviews before 15 December or so as Christmas is a very busy time around here, and it becomes hard to find the time to write up the reports.

Remember that MIT goes into selection committee in February (so a February interview is certainly too late), and reads applications during January. Since they would like to have your interview report when they read your folder, the deadline for interview reports is in early January.
