Twinmom, It just goes to show you that there is really no rhyme or reason for the order in which they do things. Someone might say they are reading the essays and that has an impact but I doubt that they are reading over 30,000 essays. I think they need to hire more admissions counselors…

@lowell14 Thanks for letting me know!

Found out I was wait listed today. I don’t really care because I plan on going somewhere else, but I’m pretty surprised.
1310 CR and M
3.8 UW GPA

@heartbeats Mail or website?

I’m getting really anxious and impatient waiting for my decision. My application status has been “under review” for two weeks. :-<

My son was told via computer (not sure if spire account or regular email) that he got in today undecided (2nd choice 1st was sports management). Also not sure if he was given any merit money as we didn’t actually receive the letter that most say they received with their admittance. His gpa was 3.2 (weighted) and 1950 sat (1290 with just the two).

Heartbeats, something doesn’t sound right to me. You should have been a shoe in. I know you said you are going somewhere else but I would talk with your college counselor and ask him/her how you can be reconsidered. I think someone goofed.

bucky, grades don’t make the applicant. I applied to both Lehigh and Babson with above average grades and SAT’s / ACT’s, only made waitlist. Plus, this is reg decision. They could’ve had more acceptances in early acceptances than usual, or just enough to make the reg decision that much more competitive.

Found out through spire that I was waitlisted today…pretty bummed out because it’s my first choice
3.7 W GPA, 30 ACT. Applied to nursing and biology

Found out today as well! Through SPIRE. Accepted. $12,000 Chancellor’s Scholarship. 1990/1270 SAT. 4.0 UW GPA. OOS. Spent two weeks last summer at UMass. Good luck to you all!

D got hers today too- Engineering…took them long enough. Accepted into all the State Flagships in the Northeast months ago…but her own state flagship took an eternity.

Accepted with chancellor’s scholarship of $8000 and Commonwealth Honours Program offer… Economics Major… can someone please tell me anything about how the major is at UMass…

@Carcyn57:

Probably you know this already, but in case you don’t - tuition at UMass is only $1714/year; the fees are around $12000/year.

The full tuition scholarship you are talking about covers only tuition, and not fees, so it is worth only $1714/year.

It’s not nothing, but certainly not what you’d expect when you hear “full tuition”. It’s deceptive IMO, but that’s how it works.

I’d just like to update anyone who is still waiting for a decision. I called today and it seems like they are receiving a lot of calls on the subject and was told that all decisions will be out within a week and that if nothing came in by Wednesday to give them a call. I’m just happy to have gotten some answers!

Wow! I feel for those of you still waiting for a decision.

Received my packet in the mail and was admitted! But I was admitted as “undeclared” instead of Computer Engineering so now I don’t know what to do. This is incredibly frustrating because I’ve been waiting since December to hear some good news.

My son was also admitted as undeclared. Get in touch with someone from the department and ask about how realistic your chances are of getting in and what kind of grades the last 2 years or so did one have to get to get in (that will give you an idea of how hard/easy it will be). Hope this helps.

This CC community has been very helpful. Thank you all. D has asked me to cancel this weekend’s trip to Amherst so UMass is out (and so is Smith). Good luck to all. :-h
