REA AP US History

I have an older version of this book (printed in 2003). It is the one with the white cover and it has the CD software. Is it OK for me to use this or do i HAVE to buy the new edition ?

also would I need to buy AMSCO to complement it?

-Thanks

uh, you should definitely be alright with just REA. Last year, i used the '98 REA APUSH book, and the review that it has is definitely enough to get you a 5. Just be aware that their practice tests are strange, so if you wanted to practice tests you should find them from another source.

^^ what prep books have good/accurate practice tests? 5 steps to a 5/AMSCO?

Also it says on REA' cover that the book's practice tests are the same format as CB APUSH exam..why do you think are they weird?

haha I also used REA for my APUSH (i got a 5). The practice tests are impossible. I missed like 30 out of 80 on them. The test have some really weird questions that would not appear on the real test. Overall, if u want practice tests, get the Princeton Review book.

So the consensus is REA for review and PR for tests?

AMSCO doesn't have practice tests right?

i havent a clue what amsco is. from what i hear PR has really accurate practice tests. i just remember looking through the REA book last year and asking why the heck the collegeboard would ask the kinds of questions that REA does, which luckily it doesnt, so yes.

REA is great for review!! I used the 2003 version as well last year even though there was the new version (with a yellow cover).
The practice questions are WIERD. I got most of them..but they're weirdly worded or something. And I only studied them because our teacher give us quizzes over the questions in it...so I basically just memorized everything. haha. That's the only book I used for the AP exam..and I got a 4. I'm sure if I did some practice questions from PR or something I would've done better. I reviewed the book alot though..it really helps.
