Just wondering, for Hedrick Summit how many regular sized boxes am I able to fit (for items I am packing)?

for the 14B plan, can we use any number of swipes a day as long as it doesn't exceed one per meal period?
i ask because i'll be going home for the weekend and i want to know if i have to only use two swipes a day.

no, there are multiple meal periods. definitely more than two per day. so yes, you can.

is there any way i can see pictures of sproul dorms. i want to see how much space i have...i know it was renovated so its really hard to find pictures...if anyone has them plz post!

everyone wants pictures, trust me.

the amount of space you'll have isn't going to be affected by the renovation... so find a pic of any hall and that should give you an approximation.

There are 5 meal periods

encumbrance, meal periods are on the first post of this thread.

so instead of renting the Micro-Fridge deal from UCLA, i've decided to just buy my own compact refrigerator. am i still allowed to bring a microwave, or is that only allowed if you get the microfridge?

are there microwaves available to use in the residential halls?

No, you're not allowed to bring stand-alone microwaves, but we do so anyway. There's been postings on how to hide them; run a search.

Yes, they're usually on the ground floor.

If we have a private bathroom, do we need to bring toilet paper?

How exactly do intramural sports work? Do you have to have a team in order to play, or can you just show up and join a random group? Also, on the UCLA Recreation website, there are only a few sports listed...are those the only ones available?

Thanks!

Ooh...I just realized I posted in the wrong thread...sorry! It won't let me delete it...

My son will be moving in tomorrow (tues). He is in Summit on the 9th floor. How do you get the heavy, bulky items upstairs? Is there a hand truck or cart we use and if so where do we get it? Thank you!

to the person asking about toilet paper...

no. they come and clean your bathroom once a week and supply you with toilet paper.

karagon, if your son is moving in tomorrow doesn't that mean he's a move-in assistant? anyway. there are tons of carts by every front desk, you check them out with a piece of ID (preferably not their bruincard, as he'll need that to get in summit, so a driver's license is good). they're basically bins on wheels.

How do i find out which housing payment plan i have?

I don't understand how I'm suppose to get money from financial aid to pay for my housing. Can someone explain this?

If you signed up from bruindirect, the money from financial aid should go through your BAR account, paying off whatever you need to need to pay for tuition, then your financial aid MINUS tuition is dir deposited into your bank acct that you signed up for bruindirect for.

Then you pay housing by credit/debit card.

Liyana: Thank you for the info and yes he is an MIA.

MrPink: To expand on azngamers question, there is still no money in my bar account. Should I be worried?

Well, check your maximum credit card payment. If it's 0.00, you're in the clear. If it's some positive number, you can just pay that by credit card.

i know in the dorm, there are like... three closets right? im in the triple. will it come with drawers or shelves so i can fold my clothes instead of hanging it? i really dont' like to hang my clothes. is it a good idea to bring plastic drawer containers to put in the closet?

thanks.

^ depends on the dorm. in a hall, don't bring any containers. in a plaza, go ahead if you feel so inclined.

keep in mind that regardless of housing type you have a closet (or under-loftbed-wardrobe) AND a chest of drawers. or part of a chest of drawers. or drawers under the bunkbeds. so, everyone gets about two drawers in addition to their closet space.
