** Read Before Starting New Housing Thread**

Oh thank god!

I really hope your not kidding. Thanks a bunch, mister.

This may have been already answered, but since it is an all you can eat thing, could you take a doggy bag to your room to eat there, or do you have to eat everything in the cafeteria?

all u people who are worried about when to send in your SIR need to take a deep breath and calm down. It is a lottery, you can turn it in whenever before the deadline and still have the same chances.

"I'm filling out the housing form, and I'm unsure as to what to do about my picture. What's it used for? The picture I used is very small, and upon the review part of the application, it stretched it out and made it very ew. Should I use a different picture so it doesn't distort my face?"

That doesn't matter. Many people dont upload pictures. I uploaded a picture of kobe bryant as mine and it doesnt matter.

"This may have been already answered, but since it is an all you can eat thing, could you take a doggy bag to your room to eat there, or do you have to eat everything in the cafeteria?"

-No. You can't bring any bags into the cafeteria. You can get food at the cafes (rendezvous, bruin cafe, late night, puzzles) and bring those to your room and eat though.

My ideal housing would be a double room in a residence hall. So for the housing application, what do I put for the second part of living preferences when it asks double room (two occupants) or double room shared bath, which one should I pick so that I could be in a double room in a residence hall?

^Double room (two occupants)

when it asks if I’m active and exercise, if I check that will it be more liikely that i’ll get a residence hall with a gym?

i always thought those questions don’t even make a difference to where you’re placed, but that’s just me…

This question may have already been answered, but I’m way too lazy to sift through the entire thread:

I’m not 100% sure if I’m going to go to UCLA, but I have strong housing preferences and I want to request a roommate who goes to my high school, so am I allowed to submit the housing application BEFORE I enroll at UCLA?

Thanks!

Under the Housing tab of the housing application, for Room type preference. I ranked the “shared bathrooms” as my top choices, thinking that they were communal floor bathrooms. Is there any way to change this information?

I was wondering if you could edit everything on your housing application after you submit it?

same here…

i have no clue why i picked 3 ppl room when 2 room seems better for me actually…

does anyone have any experience with rooming with 2 others or know how to change it?
thanks

Is it better to have a double suite or a Residence hall triple? I really don’t want a triple(Don’t like bunkbeds, light sleeper, and also have a LOT of clothing and stuff), but also want to be able to meet new people easily and make new friends! This is such a dilemma!

When sending in the housing application, we don’t select a specific building, just whether it’s preferred of plaza, residence, or suites, right?

Boiker - I think the questions about activity, interests, etc. do work sometimes, because I have a ton in common with my roommates (especially on paper). We all put the same answers on our apps. So it has more to do with matching roommates, not locations. No matter where your are, you will be close to a small gym. The only full gym, however, is at Wooden.

Manzaga13 - No.

I don’t know about changing the app. Search the housing website and/or ask housing.

bobslove - I live in a triple. It is really fun if you like your roommates because there is more bonding and if you like company, you’re more likely to have it at any given point in the day. Downsides: more noise, more differences (behavior, sleep habits, music tastes), more mess/less space. I think it’s worth it, at least for the first year. Also, saves money which is awesome. That said, I’ll be in a double next year. But I would definitely not take back this year.

lisalisa313 - There are sooooo many threads about this, but double suite (plaza?) is expensive, quiet (in general), somewhat larger, etc. Hall triple is tight space, much bonding, more noise. Halls feel more like communities and plazas seem to be more like private apartments, at least to me. I strongly encourage the hall for your first year.

crystalpigz - Right. :)

so i really want to be in a double in a residence hall. but i’d rather be a triple in a residence hall than a double in a suite. so, do i put double residence hall three times in a row under preferences on the app, or should i put triple at the bottom just to make sure i don’t screwed over with a suite?

thanks

Don’t worry you won’t get a double.

I only put double…like 3 doubles in halls and 3 in plazas in the options given, and i ranked room choice as my highest preference…will i still get a triple? :(

would Dykstra Hall be a good choice for a computer science major? How valuable is the computer lab? Is Dykstra Hall located near all the engineering classes? Is it close to any pools?

well considering you don’t choose your building, it doesn’t really matter. but yeah, it’s a good location since it’s closer to south campus.

i know I probably sound stupid, but what choices do you get to make on your housing application?
