<■■■■■■■■ question=“”>
they need me to upload a picture! (though i don’t really understand why- do they put all the fugly people together- and all the better ones together? haha). it says a passport sized picture… now i don’t have one with me right now and will have to go get one taken… could i just take a regular picture- and crop it and put it in there (or is this official business?)

“I’m filling out the housing form, and I’m unsure as to what to do about my picture. What’s it used for? The picture I used is very small, and upon the review part of the application, it stretched it out and made it very ew. Should I use a different picture so it doesn’t distort my face?”

That doesn’t matter. Many people dont upload pictures. I uploaded a picture of kobe bryant as mine and it doesnt matter.

The one I want, triple shared, is my 4th choice. How likely is it that I will get this? Most freshmen get triples right? I just want a double/triple at a residence hall. Is it likely that I will get a hall?

I’m sorry to ask this, because I’m sure it’s probably answered somewhere in this forum already, but I just want to be sure I have everything concerning housing down:
What exactly is the difference between living in a plaza and living in a suite? On the page that lists housing costs, UCLA seems to use the terms interchangeably.
Do most transfer students get their first choice of living arrangements, or are many forced into their fourth, fifth, sixth choice, etc?
Let’s say I really, really want to live in a plaza, have one roommate, and a shared bathroom. I really, really DON’T want to have a private bathroom, have 2 roommates, or have a single. What would be my best housing rankings?
If you end up with a room that you absolutely can’t afford . . . what do you do?

my first choice is a res hall trple and my second choice is a res hall double. However, if i get stuck in a plaza or suite i’d rather have a shared triple than a private double. my facility preference is 1.res hall, 2.plaza, 3.suite. Would it be best to put double (two occupants) as my second choice and shared triple as my third choice for room type or the other way around? Does your room type preference affect the facility your put in?

putting the word “shared” denotes a plaza, where as triple (by itself) and double (by itself) denotes res. hall.

I believe if you put room preference as the first priority you have a good chance of getting what you want…but there are no guarantees so be flexible.

After you get your housing offer, you choose your meal plan when you make your initial payment. This is also when you choose your payment plan for housing.

do most incoming freshmen who put plazas as their first choice get sunset village? I heard sunset is really antisocial and i would much rather prefer to get de neve or rieber terrace :/

I wouldn’t say Sunset Village is anti social. My daughter is a freshman this year and is in Sunset Village. She is in Canyon Point with a shared bath. She is in a triple and they share a bathroom with the room connected to them which is also a triple. She requested a plaza since she didn’t want to share a bathroom with 20 people and since she knew she would probably get a triple she knew the plaza rooms were larger. She has a great house (they call the 3 floor building she’s in a house). They decorate for holidays, have house get togethers, etc. She loves her roommates and loves that she can be social but the room is still quiet enough that she can actually study in her room. She slso met many friends during zero week and joined a sorority so she has an extremly social life. She likes that her dorm room is a bit more quiet so she has a little peace and quiet. I think each building is different year to year…it all depends on the people in that building that year. Plazas can be very social or quiet…the same can be said for res. halls. So if you are social and outgoing you will be fine whichever plaza building you end up in. Sunset Village is a great location, right next to Covel (some say the best food) and the Bruincafe (the only good food open really late) so there are some positives for you.

Would a current UCLA Student please provide me with a brief review/summary of DYKSTRA Hall?

I got offered a triple there and have been hearing good things about it and am SUPER excited, but I want to hear from someones personal experience.

Can anyone tell me about Hendrick Summit? I’m really worried about getting a triple shared bath and actually requested to get a residence hall or if a plaza, then a single. How hard would it to change my housing assignment to a single or a double?
