Hey guys, I already submitted my personal statement and most of my applications but I wanted to get a strangers perspective on the ideas discussed in my essay! There’s probably going to be a few tiny mistakes but I’ve read over my essay many times so, at this point, any proofreading would be nice but I’m looking more for new opinions and fresh eyes. Who wants to take a look?
I’d love to take a look
I will give a brief critique if you PM it to me.
I don’t have any experience with this stuff but can I take a look?
@s0ndheim Please PM to people with a proven track record and are DONE with the college process to avoid any sort of plagiarism.
I’d be happy to take a look.
@MrElonMusk - does that sort of thing happen? I have used others on some other forums for this type of help and now I am worried!!!
@BusyBees12 - yeh you have to be super careful about this type of thing. Have heard of a number of cases like this.
@BusyBees12 Plagiarism checkers scour the internet for similarly worded material and that can get your essay flagged. Also, if you pm your essay to a current applicant or post your essay publically, someone else can use it without you knowing…
You can PM it to me. I’ll offer a brief critique.
Yes, it does happen.
PLEASE send your essay only to an adult with a proven posting history.
While I’m not volunteering, I’ll use myself as an example. Click on my name, and then on “Threads”
You’ll see references to the classes I teach, and to my 3 teenage kids. The early ones date back to 2016, when my oldest was a Senior.
So obviously, I’m not a kid, here to steal your ideas or your words.
As @bjkmom says, it does happen. We have to repeat these warnings every year. Look for people with track records. You can probably find me, for example: I’m a 65-year-old attorney with a kid in grad school and no need to steal your ideas. B-) I’ve helped a few kids over the years; at least, some of them say that I have. I’d be happy to read yours if you want to PM it or you can send it to my user name as a gmail address.
Great advice/points re: track records.
