Reading speed?

How many pages of college level social science text book do you guys think one should be able to "read & understand" per an hour to gain a college sucesss?

34.1116 pages per hour or else you'll never amount to anything.

(Is this question serious???)

This could be serious. People want to know what reading speed they should be at. Like a person shouldn't read at like 20 pages per hour. He's just enquiring.

At least 40 pages per hour. Try to get up to 60 pages per hour if possible.

And how would you do that??

Wow, I fall drastically below this standard. If I'm reading a novel I can easily read 60 pages in an hour, but when reading dense academic or literary material I generally don't go far beyond 20 pages in an hour.

Any tips on how one would go about increasing his reading speed?

In order to read faster, I skim and miss important details.
