I'm ready to apply to FSU right when the application is released.. however, I have a small problem. I would like to include on my application that I am a National Merit Semifinalist, but I won't receive the official letter until mid-September.

Will NMF make a significant difference in scholarship opportunities at FSU? Should I wait to apply until I have received official acknowledgement of NMF status?

Thanks for any advice!!

Go ahead and put semi-finalist. You can change your application all the way up to the deadline date in October. So if you become a finalist, just go back to your application and change it. Good luck. :)

Being a national merit candidate will help with scholarship opportunities at FSU.

I suggest calling and emailing Admissions directly and asking for the best way to present your status. This has the added benefit of also bringing positive attention to your application. Also inquire about the Honors Program and speak with representatives about eligibility for admission.

Apply early...as you have said. This gives you the best chance for scholarship dollars and admission. :)

Congrats on the National Merit! That is quite an accomplishment and good luck in making it to "finalist"!

I ditto Parent2Noles feedback. He is an FSU alum, as well as, a parent of 2 FSU students at present and always gives excellent advice!

Your stats profile looks very strong in all areas. I'm sure you will be a great addition to any university's freshmen class in fall of 2009!

Definitely apply early for the best position on scholarship $$$ and admission.

Thank you for your advice and compliment (skibird). I have emailed admissions about the issue, and know that they will email me back with a cohesive response.. they are pretty good about that. Thanks everyone!
