<p>Each college and university sets its own policies about this. You have to read the website of each and every place that you are applying to. Some will waive the TOEFL if you have a given ACT or SAT score. Some will accept IELTS or the Michigan test instead of TOEFL. Some won’t.</p>

Some of them waive the TOEFL requirements for CR scores as low as 600 others for scores >670.</p>
<p>It’s safer to take the TOEFL to be safe. It’s really not a big deal. A week/10days of prep is more than enough.</p>
<p>That damn test cost me $150. If you can find a way around it, more power to you. I would check individually with each school though, but it’s worth a try.</p>
