Really awful literature subject test score?

Back in October, I took the math 1 subject test and literature subject test. I had been doing practice tests, I was struggling to get to a 700 in math, and literature was kind of all over the place. Normally it would be above a 700, but sometimes I would totally bomb it. So I went in and got a 690 in math and a 660 in literature. I was unhappy but I didn’t do well on the sat the first time because of nerves, but then the second time I got a 2200, so I figured it was the same thing happening. Then in November I was really sick so I didn’t take them. In December, I took them and just got them back. My math went up to a 730, and my literature dropped to a 640.

Granted, I didn’t study as much the second time around for literature as I did for math. I know that sounds illogical, since I got a lower lit score the first time, but I felt like that was just because of nerves, and because sometimes literature tests are kind of hit or miss. You either understand the text or you don’t. I also genuinely could not find very many literature subject tests. Plus, I’m naturally better at english than math. I was also getting like 750+ scores on the practice tests I did take, so I felt okay about it.

I want to be an english major, I can’t have a 660 and 640 as my literature subject test scores. This totally screws me over for Brown, Amherst, Rice, & Barnard. I guess I’m gonna take it again in January, but I don’t know what to do to stop me from tanking again. What I have been doing obviously hasn’t been working. Advice?

omg I’m literally in the same boat as you!! My top choice is Barnard and I also want to be an english major but my sat 2 lit score was not okay…similar to yours. And I’m taking the test again in January so I wish you the best of luck!! Hope we do better this time <3
