Hey I have orientation coming up and this is going to sound INCREDIBLY stupid but where do we meet on the first day in the morning? Is it just like by the Office of New Student Programs or what? I've been looking all over trying to figure out but I can't seem to find anything hahaha, sorry for the dumb question any and all help is appreciated!! GO BLUE!

meet in east quad

“Meet in East Quad at 8:00 AM”

Arrive at 8am, get in the student line, check in, drop your bags in your dorm room, and start the orientation. Parents also arrive then, but go to a different line, check in, pay… and go on their way to parent breakfast and activities. Parking is a few blocks away.

east quad, you go through the doors that have a banner over saying ‘welcome to orientation’ or something of the sort, then turn right and check in! good luck.

We just got back from the new student Orientation for both parents and students (East Quad - Hill Street/East University Avenue). My son registered (6:00-9:00 PM) last Saturday evening. They received their room assignments and had a mandatory meeting at 9:00PM. They hit the ground running at 7:00AM for breakfast and meetings until 9:00PM on both Sunday and Monday. Tuesday morning they registered and received their schedules for actual classes. My son finished up at 9:00AM because he is in the College of Engineering where class selection is pretty easy (one science, one math, one or two introductory engineering class). A lot of COE kids come in with AP credits (history, econ, psychology, etc) so they didn’t have to worry that much about the UM general liberal arts requirements (16 hrs). The LSA students probably have a harder time selecting and scheduling their classes

In general, we found the orientation extremely useful. As parents, we had a day and half (Sunday and Monday until noon). My son likewise was very happy with the orientation and it relieved a lot of his apprehensions about coming to Ann Arbor. As an aside, the temperature was a killer (93+F) and the rooms at East Quad (where kids stayed) did not have air conditioning. Some kids came to registration carrying window fans with their pillows and clothing suitcases/backpacks. They might have looked dorky but were the smart ones — Check the weather forecast

Should also make note that you can check out fans while you’re at orientation if you don’t bring one from home.
