Syracuse
Oswego
New paltz

Albany
Buffalo

and IDK what else really. if anyone knows of any private colleges or other nice colleges around the tristate area that would accept me.. please post your suggestions thanks in advance

While your SAT scores are in good shape your gpa might hold you back from acceptance at these schools. I know New Paltz is looking for around a 92 gpa and Syracuse would be similar. Buffalo and Albany would be more in the 85+ range. My friends daughter was rejected from Albany with an 81 but her SAT score was lower than yours. You should check with each school to see what their gpa acceptance requirements are. You may want to go to Community College for a year or two and raise your gpa…it would open up your possibilities considerably…you are obviously smart so if you apply yourself you could do really well. My friends daughter is going to SUNY Farmingdale for this year to raise her gpa with the hope of reapplying to Albany for the fall.

thanks for your help lilly. yea i am in a bad situation all the schools want a high GPA, im hoping that one school cuts me some slack and lets me in.

An examination of the profile of the 2007 entering freshman class gives a picture of the academic achievement of students enrolled at Oswego. The mean high school average for students enrolled in the General Freshman Program was 88. The mean SAT score for the combined Critical Reading and Math (Writing was excluded) was approximately 1090 and approximately 23 for the ACT composite score. Approximately 55% of the freshmen applicants were accepted for admission.

Since your SAT score is way beyond what they traditionally accept maybe your gpa will be looked at in the entire context of your application. You might want to call and speak to admissions to see what they say about it.

i don’t agree with LilyMoon
there are plenty of people in my school with your GPA who have far lower SAT scores that end up going to state schools… no need to go to community college.

UHManoa
Stats are awesome,
they typically accept 510s across for SATs.
As for your GPA,
I go on a 4 point scale, so I dunno.
UHManoa is typically around the 3.3 area.

The question is, how well did you do your junior year? Your SAT scores obviously overqualify you for most to all of those schools. With good teacher recs and essay, I say you have a shot at each school.

Yeah, USC is a definite big reach.
Your GPA is like around a 2 point something, far below the USC standard, which is like at least 3.9+ and your SAT scores are not good enough for them either and I don’t think even a 2400 would be able to bolster that gpa for USC.

shiomi - ya… i was just looking through the UCs and USC looks like they accept the most people with crappy GPAs. i dont plan on getting into that i nthe slightest, but you never know
