really weird common app essay

i am doing my CA essay about my irrational fear of bugs and how learning to kill them/ deal with them on my own marked a transition to adulthood because i learned how to do things on my own. it is somewhat humorous and a bit dramatic. is this ok? will someone read it?
or should i write about failure: the time i tried really hard to make finals at a meet and did not succeed and it taught me to appreciate the journey not the destination.

i have written both essays already and i am trying to decide which to move forward with

I’ll read either one or both.

The “failed exam/test/final” essay is a very common one that admissions officers likely read all the time. Unless you think you can make yours truly unique, I’d go with the bugs one.

I agree with ThatAsian in that it needs to be unique. The bug one could do it so long as you write it well.

Your best bet is the bug one.

I agree the trying to make finals at a meet is worn out, especially if it is athletic.
