one and a half weeks before I being my two weeks of hell- 12 AP's altogether. The one's I am worried about are AP Lit, AP Lang, stats, Comparative goverment, and US Government. For stats, I'm just afraid I'll screw up every single problem cuz I'm tired or suck at math or really have noidea what the hell I'm doing. I've barely studied comparative government and am worried I won't finish studying all the countries in time ( like 7 freakin countries!) or that I won't comprehend what I read or I'll mix it all up or that REA reallly really sucks. I have a feeling I don't really understnad US Government or will forget some kewy fact that will grant me a 1 on the essay.

I don't even know how to study for AP Lit and Lang ( I suck at quickly generating quality essays and don't seem to do so hot on the multiple choice).n fact, I'm worried about every subject that I have to write essays about (Bio, Geography, Psychology, US History, AP Lit, AP Lang, AP Comp Gov and US Gov). Cuz I absolutely suck at writing essays under timed conditions. Like beyond suck. My essays are deflated, bloated ( look at that contradiction!) , and never say anything meaningful. and I never write every much even though I write for the entire freggin time.

so........ that was a pretty pathetic rant. Does anyone know how to improve essay writing skills in 2 weeks?

Try www.richterap.com. It may or may not help you, but you could at least try to write the essays, and ask your teacher to grade them, or find somebody willing to critique them. Good luck!

thanks for the website. I'll look at itsometime this week

I'm aiming for the AP National Scholar Award. I need an average of 4 on all exams with 4 or greater on at least 8 exams. I'm taking an extra four to give me some breathing room ( I don't want to miss the award because I made a 3 on one test)

I'm really considering canceling my AP Comparative government exam though. I don't feel I'll be able to prepare for that in 2 and a half weeks.

It's not as bad as you think, vtran. I'm taking 5 IB HL exams and 7 AP exams. My tip is to practice your writing skills. Prep books (definitely Barron's for math, Cliffs for bio) are WONDERFUL for this. The thing I like about prep books is that they often give you a breakdown of the exam (e.g. 25% of the AP Biology exam covers cells and molecules), which lets you know exactly what to study most. AP Language is not so bad; I thought it was similar to the SAT. I suggest studying your weakest subjects first (which sounds like government) and then move on to your other subjects. Try the practice tests on the collegeboard website; I've found them to be very helpful. Good luck!

wait... so you are taken exams for which you haven't taken a class? wow. that's going to be tough. i'm only taking tests for AP classes that i am taking.

I'm feeling the stress too right now, although not as much. 5 AP's (also going for National, but not allowing any "breathing room" for mistakes or 3's at all ... how's that for pressure?), 2/3 SAT II's in May, SAT in June, 1 IB exam.

It's probably not as much but ... perhaps we can all support and motivate each other.

vtran31 ~ if you are just going for National, why not 9 exams? Or 10 if you're worried? 12 seems like bad odds since the average of 4 on all exams means that if you mke the award with 10 exams, and then get a 2 and a 3 on numbers 11 and 12, you could be averaged out of the award.

reasonabledad: I think he would have the option of canceling scores for tests he did not feel he did necessarily well on. This way he has the option to do that.

Still, I don't understand how you can prepare for so many exams at the same time.

I agree with reasonabledad...
12 APs really does decrease your chances...

It'll also look rather suspicious to colleges if you're taking 12 AP exams junior year (i'm just assuming considering there's no reason to be so desperate for an AP National Scholar award senior year)...Is it just me...or will colleges understand what your agenda is? You should be taking AP courses and tests to challenge yourself..not to get an award, however prestigious it may be. Seriously..there is no reason to be taking both English exams in one year. Are you taking both Calc exams as well?

Not to mention...even if you score a 4 or 5 on all of them...taking that many simply means you've studied just enough to get the grade you want. You haven't had the full experience of the class nor have you been able to learn the subject in the depth that is expected.

Not to mention the costs of taking the exams, which is at least $1,000 and also all the review books you have to buy. IMO I don't think its worth it. If you want to impress colleges, there's better way to do it than this. But kudos to you--it takes a alot of motivation to do what you are doing.
