I was accepted at NYU stern but rejected at Penn. I am taking a year off next year and will be deferring anyways. I really really want to go to Penn MUCH more than NYU, so is there any way I can reapply to penn next year without losing my spot at NYU just in case I dont get into penn again?

I don’t think so since deferrment is acceptance :< I’m re-applying as well next year since I have managed to find some useful activites I happen to enjoy to fill my year with. I’m turning down everything else :X Tho I’m really not sure! Really depends whether the school matters that much to you.

but what if you dont get into penn? where r u gonna go then?

i don’t see why anyone would want to go through the he11 that is the college application process, in two consecutive year. You have kajones (sp?). I personally would have folded haha.

i strongly recommend that you go to stern at nyu. that is a highly respected program. like pahka, i can’t imagine having to go through that entire process again. and if they did not want you this year, why would they want you next year? they will know that you already applied. so, unless you are saving the world through business experience within the next your, i say go to stern.

I honestly don’t see the difference between putting in a deposit at a school and then going to another school off the waitlist, and putting in a deposit, deferring a year, and getting into and attending another school. Maybe the second scenario isn’t as ethical, but…

Honestly though, I would call and ask Penn if they ever accept people who reapply when they were rejected the first time. I doubt the number is very big.

I spoke to my ao who said that I should consider reapplying if i defer anyways. She told me NOT to say yes to NYU and then reapply. I have to choose one or the other.

Yup, it is one or the other Yeah, going through the whole process again does suck I have considered I won’t get in even on my second attempt, but I know I will regret not trying again. And as it is, I plan to make full use of this gap year so I won’t regret it regardless of the application outcome So it is really up to you…
