I want to reapply to St Georges. When I applied last season I got waitlisted so now I'm at a different boarding school (as a 9th grader). I cant seem to get SGS out of my head though. grr.
Would the fact that I applied once before be a benefit or hindrance?

i have no idea. i'm applying to two schools i got waitlisted at last year.......does somebody have an answer? i'm curious as well

How did your interviewers react to your reapplication? Personally, I do not think that just loving the school is enough to get anyone to take you. I think that one thing that you need to communicate in your application or interviews is why this school is right for you, and vice versa. From what I have read on these posts, schools really look for students who will fit in at the school. While it is important that the school meet your needs, from the school's perspective, you must fit in there. That does not mean that you are some kind of Star Wars clone, but that they can only have so many tennis girls, and football guys, and actors and musicians and artists, and just plain old smart people.

You need to figure out what it is about X school that turns you on, and tell them that I can just see my self dancing in the dance theatre, etc (what turns you on). If you are one of the many many fabulous students on this board, then say that you can't wait to study X there because the X department has so many great courses, and you love Y and Z too.

I might try to find out if there really was any reason that you were waitlisted. Also the openings for transfers can affect your potential. Will they have openings?

Best of Luck.

my interviewers were curious as to why and then i explained how horrible my public school is and how the teachers don't care. also, i knew specifically why I wanted to go to each school, like one for their english program and one class in particular, etc.

Ouch - probably not a good idea to denigrate teachers at your current school in the interview, even if it may be deserved. Remember, you are interviewing with other members of the educational profession, and they probably don't take kindly to bashing of their colleagues.

well i didn't put it that way, like they were absolutely terrible but i said that they just didn't challenge me and it seemed like we were just pulling out textbooks and doing busy work all the time.

Some schools will waitlist or not accept a 9th grader whom they think is "too young". They will accept the following year - but for 9th grade

I'm repeating 9th grade as it is, Princess'Dad. I applied as a repeat because I was young for the class of 2011.
