Reapplying

I was accepted as a philosophy major to UCLA, UCB, UCSB, & UCSD as a transfer from a CC.
I had a 4.0 and 54 sem. units. I registered to attend UCLA, and I planned to take 2 classes over summer.
But due to family circumstances (parents separating, mother moving to Europe), I was out of the country all summer. I also had a bunch of health issues during this time.
So, as I did not complete the 60 units, UCLA took back their offer. I'll be back in CA soon, plan to finish classes at my CC Spring 2015, and apply for Fall 2015 to the same schools (maybe USC as well).

I now have a 3.93, and 3 Ws.

What are my chances that UCLA will grant admission a second time?
What can I do to increase my chances? (besides trying to get As next spring)
Thanks :)

Very, very likely. I’d say don’t worry about it.

Yes, I think you’re fine, just explain as you did here.

But I have a question - they all accepted you with just 54 units completed by spring 2014???

Did you start out with 60 completed, and then withdraw from two and they OK’d it after acceptance?

Thanks.

lindyk8: I had 54 units done by end of Spring, which is when I received acceptance notices. I dropped the 2 classes (6 units) that I planned to take in the summer (dropped in June, I think). Once I reported this change- UCLA revoked their offer.
I think UCB requires the 60 units by the end of Spring (meaning classes over summer don’t count), but it wasn’t my top choice so I wasn’t worried about it.

Every UC requires transfers to have 60 completed units prior to transfer. In very rare occasions, those units can be made up in the summer.

Interesting. The transfer matrix says none of the 60 units can be completed summer prior to enrollment. This applies to all the UCs. (Obviously this can change after acceptance, if a class is dropped.) They must have really wanted the OP.

I think it might have to do with the fact that Philosophy is not an impacted or capped major.

well its good to know there is some leeway.

I’m dubious. Sorry. Maybe the OP listed 60 units of coursework in the update.

Yeah, UCLA probably will be happy to readmit you. No reason for them not to with your grades.

Agreed with 2016. AFAIK, there is no leeway with the 60 units completed by the end of spring.
