Reasonably Priced Accomodations Within Walking Distance of North Campus?

Title says it all.

Son has decided on UB and we are planning a trip for orientation! We live on Long Island and are definitely flying in the eve before orientation and flying back home at the end of the second day's program.

I would like to stay somewhere clean and decent, with complimentary airport transportation, and hopefully within walking distance (a brisk 15-20 minute walk is no problem) of the campus. For this particular visit, I am trying to avoid needing a rental car.

I'm not sure if actual recommendations are against cc rules but if they are, your suggestions via private message (I've never gotten one of these!) would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance. And GO BUFFALO BULLS!

The closest hotels to campus are the Marriott and the Ramada. I believe that both places have airport shuttles but I’m not sure about if they are complimentary or not. If they aren’t keep in mind that a taxi from the airport will run you between $20-30. Take a look on google maps to see if they are close enough to be “walking distance” from the campus.

I forgot about the Candlewood Suites and a Comfort Inn that are a little bit further down from the Marriott. I am not sure I would consider those walking distance though due to the roads you would have to walk on.

Thank you very much for the information.

On Flint, across from the campus, is Marriott, Hotel Indigo, Comfort Inn, Candlewood Suites, and the Red Roof Inn. They are all approximately the same distance from the academic spine and are all within a 10-12 minute walk from the spine.

On the northern end of campus, right across from Ellicott, is the Ramada. It’s probably the same distance.

Thank you to everyone who replied.

We stayed at the Comfort Inn for visit/accepted students day in April.

We will be staying at the Ramada for orientation, taking full advantage of their free airport and local shuttle service.

And since the whole family will be driving up for the great freshman drop-off at the end of August, we will be staying at the Marriott.

By September 1st, I too will be able to offer information on places to stay near UB!

Thanks again.

I’m curious if anyone has stayed at the Blue Indigio. I miss it’s prior incarnation as a Hampton Inn.

I’ve stayed several times at the Indigo (but not in its previous incarnation as a Hampton. It’s very nice, but a bit pricier than some other similarly nearby choices. The last couple of times, I’ve used the Comfort Inn, which has suited my needs (quick overnight) very well.

We’ve stayed at the Marriott and the Indigo. Both were really nice. H preferred Marriott and i preferred indigo, if we had to pick. I would stay at either again.
