Rec Letter Horror Story

So, the Wake Forest Scholarship Committee requires a peer recommendation letter to be sent on your behalf. When my 'peer' allowed me to proof-read the letter for me, it was so good, I asked her to send it along to American U and Penn as a supplementary letter. This happened over Christmas break.

Well, we were discussing the letter this week, and she isnt quite so sure if the 'Wake Forest Scholarship' Committee salutation was taken off the letter before it was sent to Penn and American.

Panicing, I called the AU AdCom. My regional rep had to call me back and when she did, she left a message saying, 'Looks like your letter - looks like it's from a teacher? - is okay, it says To Whom is May Concern.'

Well I had sent a teacher rec as well, which I know was addressed properly. Now I'm worried that the letter in question (mailed Dec 31st) hasnt been processed yet and the bad letter is still sitting somewhere at Penn and AU waiting to be put into my file and screw me over.

I spoke to someone at Penn and she said to fax the corrected letter if need be. I'd hate to barrage them with unnecessary material though...
