reccommendation?

I was recently at Colgate and found out they don't accept recommendations from freshman teachers, but accept the common application.

on the common application do they say you can't use freshman teachers?

is it common at other colleges that freshman teacher reccommendations aren't allowed?

I doubt that many people would want to use a freshman teacher anyway. They know you from THREE years ago.

Well can someone answer the question because i want to. i have known this teacher throughout my three years of high school, it was just that he only taught me in 9th grade. Thanks.

I don't think the common app asks for recs...
It's a separate part of the whole process since the letters of rec are sent in on their own.

So if the college says no 9th grade teachers, it means just that.

On a separate note, I'm using a 9th grade teacher, but then again the same teacher is my sci. oly. coach and will be a 12th grade teacher as well. And plenty of schools I'm applying to ask for no 9th grade teachers... Any way you can use similar logic to get around it like I am?

I think if you've been working with your 9th grade teacher throughout high school, you could probably use them as a secondary recommendation, but I would choose a teacher, preferably from your junior year, as your main academic recommendation.
