<p>I’d be much more worried about the reasons behind the D and focus on not repeating anywhere close to it.</p>
<p>I don’t think UCs and Cali state schools count freshman year, as when I did the app for cal state schools I didn’t need to enter my freshman info. Some other schools do this too.</p>
<p>One D will not kill your GPA as long as you do well in all your other classes. You should consider retaking the class if you can to replace the D on your transcript if your HS allows it.</p>
