Ugh come on man. I’m still in shock he won and now he’s cutting money from everything.

mets4life: Rutgers Engineering has co-op programs, but they are not built-in like they may be at other schools. (I’m also not sure if Rutgers has connections with Boeing.) Co-ops would be something you’d have to proactively seek out, apply, and interview for. Of course, there are lots of resources like the career services and club events that will prepare you for getting them, but it won’t be handed to you.

Also, I’m pretty sure co-op is what it’s called for working full-time while pursuing a degree while an internship would be over a long break like summer.

Yea, I got the Scarlet Award today as well for the Engineering School and Business School.

I saw the $10,000 and was really happy until I saw that it was $2500 a year.

Oh well, better than nothing.

Hmm I have the same stats as everyone who posted them, nothing in the mail yet
But congrats to everyone here who got a scholarship!!! :D

If you wouldn’t mind, could all previous and new posters on this thread please post the school to which you were awarded the scholarship, the amount, and your SAT (out of 2400) and rank? It might help us all make more sense out of what Rutgers is doing. It seems very strange that a 2300 SAT, top 10% would only get $2500/year. I know the awards this year were going to consider the writing score, and that the cutoffs were going to be different depending on the school (Pharmacy and Business were going to be the highest).

Schools: Engineering and Business
Amount: $10,000 ($2,500 per year)
SAT: 1970, but my 32 ACT score is probably what got me the scholarship.
Rank: Top 5 % of class, 15/372.

If you’re African American, you can get the James Dickinson Carr scholarship which is worth $40000.

My friend, who isn’t even ranked the Top 10% of my school and whose SAT score was 1310 got this award, even though he’s Indian but his mom spent some time in Africa.

actually, you don’t need to be African American… that’s what I thought too until I got it today… haha

Schools: Arts & Sciences, Environmental & Bio
Amount: $40,000 (10k/yr)
SAT: 2280/2400
Rank: Top 5%, 6 out of 330ish

wow… somehow I lucked out…

Do you mind sharing what ethnicity you are?

Wow… I missed the scholarship deadline by sooo much… submitted my app 12/22 or so and didn’t realize I had to self report grades until… late jan or early feb. Totally wasn’t expecting a scholarship letter today. full ride definitely takes the edge off my college wait anxiety!! =D Didn’t think they would cut so much slack for me…

I got the James Dickson Carr scholarship too for the School of Pharmacy… and I’m Chinese. haha

I got the Carr scholarship too…and i’m white
not sure how i managed that one

I still havent received any sort of scholarship notification and I’m starting to get nervous :(

Don’t worry histrionics, you’ll get it soon. If not just call them up.

On a diff topic. I just filed my FAFSA and got an EFC of 16K. What the hell!! Why do my parents have to be Asian and save money!!! Haha. So I’m pretty much screwed. Any advice? Any scholarship website? Thanks guys and gals!!!

presed: i’m white

Got a scarlet award. Like many other posters, was definitely hoping for more:

Stats:
SAT: 2100/2400
Rank: Top 5%

It seems like very few presidentials and Carr scholarships have been awarded this year, in comparison to the last few years :/

I feeeel like we who received the Scarlet Awards are not getting anything else, considering people getting the Carr Award now.

Damn.

Yea. I really wish I get the grants from FAFSA. Has anyone heard anything from Rutgers about this?

My initial offer is up online. Ended up getting another $2,500 Deans Scholarship at SAS. Nothing more at Business. Wish Business offered the Deans too!

I went to the Financial Aid Award Status page and it only has the option to pick 2009-2010. How did you check? Thanks!

Go to rutgers student aid site and there is a link that says view initial offer. You enter your ru id and birthdate and it brings up the offers. Each school has a different letter. At the bottom click view initial offer and it will come up.
