I have given up on sleep. Its pointless, besides, theres plenty of time to sleep when your deceased.. Sleeping is a waste, I can utilize that precious time for studying. Evidently I am exaggerating, but sleeping can really abolish your grades...

Noooo you just have t obudget your time better!
HOwever hard it is (and i know how hared it is,) you might have to sacrifice social life lol.

I prefer to cut down on my Counter-Strike time instead.

It's true. I kind of agree, but your body gives you the message of "I'm tired." So we do have to sleep to have energy. I'd say 4-5 hours a night is enough. I don't see it necessary to get 8 hours a night. This is not elementary school.

Your body can't run properly on 4-5 hours of sleep, period. I never understood why on this site not sleeping is something to brag about.

A lot of people like to brag about how they can go with 4 hours of sleep. Even if you can perceive that you're functioning well, you're just lowering your life expectancy.

if you wanna stay fit, and maximize your workout assuming you do, you need 7-8 hours of sleep

This depends entirely on the person. Most people need 8-10 hours a night. Some people can run on as little as 5 hours a night (these people are relatively rare). High school and college students generally need 8-10 hours a night.

If you're of the opinion that you can "sleep when you're dead", by not sleeping, you are doing no favor to your body, and you'll probably live a shorter life if you are continually sleep deprived.

I generally feel a tad grump and still tired if I don't get 7-8 hours sleep. Not my fault, just what my body requires. Plus (apparently) we grow the most when we sleep, so it'd be fairly obvious to get as much as you can if you want to be big and strong and tall.

what the ****?

anyone feel theres something wrong with that statement?

There's your mistake. Not sleeping will literally drive you crazy.
Get a good night's sleep, and there will be a lot less pain and agony in your life :)

now, if you don't become the next paul erdos you fail

you've made the first step by copying his quote

now comes the hard part

good luck

You can believe as much as you want that sleep is a waste of time and that you can get so much done in the time that you're snoozing, but eventually you will naturally fall asleep if you deprive yourself of t..., unless you have some medical condition that won't let you. It's just necessary, dude.

I'm a night owl. I always try to get things done at night. Had I been a morning person, I realize I probably could accomplish a whole lot more cuz I wouldn't always be falling asleep on my textbook.

Well, sleep is a waste of time. =[ Unfortunately, 'tis a necessary one.

The interesting thing about sleep is that while we know it's absolutely necessary for survival, we don't quite know why. We're not exactly sure what purpose it serves. One theory holds that mammalian sleep evolved as a way of keeping mammals still at night, so that visually-oriented reptile predators couldn't find them.

Sleep was also an awesome band from the early 90's that released Dopesmoker, an hour-long album consisting of one song.

i love sleep. honestly people!!

^ Sounds like an answer off Wikipedia, IMO. :)

Not to say you didn't come up with it. Interesting tidbits on sleep!

I can run on as little as 3-4 hours a night. I did for the entirety of first semester this year. However, I soon realized that I was
--constantly getting sick
--unable to concentrate on my reading
--often on the verge of tears/panicking over silly things
--getting irritable over silly things
--generally not efficient

I was very confused over my "symptoms" for a while but soon realized that a lack of sleep explained everything. I made a point of sleeping at least 7 hours most nights this last semester, and I was always healthy, happy, and able to do my work. Of course, some people really only do need 4 hours a night naturally, and this is how much they sleep, even without an alarm clock! Most people, however, aren't like this.

Sleep is severely underrated in college. You may think you can be efficient on very little sleep, but you're probably wrong. ESPECIALLY the night before an exam, don't cram. Seriously, it's a bad idea. You'll perform worse and not be able to remember as much as you would had you slept at least 6 or so hours.

Also, studying is OVERrated, haha. Plus, I promise you'll study better if you sleep more. I can get my reading done probably 3x faster when I've slept well than when I'm severely sleep-deprived!

I love sleeping.

Muahahahaha ... mortals and their silly myths.

Sufficient Sleep almost every other day = SUPERHUMAN.
