Recommendation Categories?

Would a recommendation from a computer science teacher be considered either math, science, or both? Also, would Spanish be a core class/curriculum?

It would most likely go under science. But I don’t think that really matters because math and science are basically of the more quantitative subjects. And no, Spanish (or any language) is not a core class. Core classes include sciences, math, history, and English. Not completely sure though.

Anyone else?

Among the colleges my daughter is applying to, there wasn’t a single answer. Some colleges said a foreign-language teacher was suitable; others wanted such a recommendation only if the language was AP.

Your best bet, really, is to check with the college that interest you.

Most places, computer science is its own discipline often paired with mathematics. Foreign language is generally considered an elective, not a core subject. But as the above poster said, it’s always good to check if you’re not sure.

At many of the schools I’m looking at, languages are considered core subjects.
