Recommendation Help!

Hi,

I am planning on applying to Brown for the Class of 2016 (maybe ED after I decide between two other schools).
Anyways, I was looking on the Brown website and saw that recs “should [be from] two teachers who have taught you in major academic subjects (science, social studies, mathematics, foreign language, English) to complete recommendations for you.”

I am planning on asking a tenth grade Ap teacher who really knows me and then debating between a science teacher who really likes me, but would probably just write a fine rec or a Religion III Philosophy & Ethics teacher who loves me and would write a stellar rec.

I go to a religious school so Religion III may not be considered as academic (though I plan on calling Brown on Tuesday), but then again they only say should, not required.

should i stick with the fine science rec or go with the one that really knows me?

note: I plan on calling them tuesday to ask, but still thought I’d ask.

The religion teacher should be fine, in my opinion.

Religion teacher should be fine, particularly if they know you much better, and have taught you in 11th grade or again this year. (or multiple years, but one rec should be from a recent teacher.) Only exception is if you are applying to PLME, or engineering etc, would have 1 of 2 recs be math or science.
