Recommendation

I highly recommend that every class of 2012 member see these movies before going:

Full Metal Jacket
Top Gun
Hunt For Red October
A Few Good Men

They are somewhat of cult classics.

Someday, someone is going to quote one of those movies and you're going to be lost and some upperclass is going to say: "YOU THINK YOU'RE GONNA BE A MARINE AND YOU HAVEN'T EVEN SEEN FULL METAL JACKET?!?" and you're going to look like an idiot.

I'm actually somewhat serious about this.

Any mid care to back this up or shut me down or add to the list?

4/4!

^^there's a little too much tom cruise in that post

at NASS they quoted FMJ! You suck so much you could suck a golf ball through a garden hose! Or you could suck the chrome off a trailer hitch!

Maybe ....ANNAPOLIS and DOWN PERISCOPE....(just kidding!)

how about the CLANCY BOOKS. the main character teaches at USNA and the awesome SEAL makes many references to Academy Life. I believe Patriot Games (??) has a scene where the psycho terrorists attempt to take a boat into Santee Basin and escape.
Speaking of the TOM CLANCY, In one of his books he talks about a shooting range underneath t-court. I had a tour guide tell me that was true, but my squad leader at NASS said it was a load of bull. Nonetheless if you look at T-court the darker colored bricks definitely are arranged in a shape like that of a shooting range. is there any truth to that?

Yah, my NASS cadre quoted Full Metal Jacket left and right... so I just kind of nodded my head and smiled lol if they would've asked me for a quote I would've been dead in the water...!

But I've seen most of it now...

"She say soul-brother man too beaucoo, too beaucoo..." lmfao

"Son! How tall are you?"
"I'm 6 foot sir."
"God damn! I didn't know they stacked **** that high!"

Might I add Crimson Tide even though it is slightly corny.

the one quote that haunted me was, "TEXAS, only STEERS and QUEERS come from there", I shrugged it off because TX is the best state in the union, Right?

friend sent me a link to this blog awhile back when i was watching A Few Good Men:
Salty Sam: Top Gun still most annoying wardroom flick
she didn't realize it was fake until i took a look at it and told her, but it's funny nonetheless.

Haha yup Hershey seen that same blog.

Doesn't change the fact that it's a classic.

of course not!

Was anyone at NASS session II last year, when we had to watch Crimson Tide because the parade in DC was cancelled?

"You don't put on a condom unless you're gonna ****"
Haha, gotta love awkwardness

i was nass 2 and i remember watching crimson tide, but i fell asleep... :( was it good?

that sucks you didn't get to see the parade. NASS 1 missed the last 4 to 5 hours of Sea Trials. we ended up watching a movie called the RIGHT STUFF.

Ditto on the movies. Lots of quotes coming from my cadre and his friends.

my personal favorite encounter between cadre and NASSer was:

Do you like attention from the cadre?
Yes
Are you stupid? Push 'em out
I'm gonna ask again Do you like attention from the cadre?
No
We're here to help you out! why would you reject help? push 'em out!

lol, why would he answer yes in the first place???

Gotta love all the classic Navy movies. Can anyone tell me what the first line to Top gun is?

Ghost Rider, this is Strike. We have unknown aircraft inbound Mustang. Your vector zero-nine-zero for bogey.
