hi guys, i'm wondering is it alright to take the SAT I four times? This is because I have taken it three times already and got a 2130 (superscored). My highest SAT score in one sitting is 2100. I would really like to hit the 2200 mark :P Thanks! :)

IMO,

You should not take it more then 3 times. If the schools you are applying to use score choice, then go ahead. But, remember that at some point, you will not go higher; so don’t waste your time if you think you hit your limit.

I doubt that you’ll score any higher for the 4th time, that is, assuming that you’ve done some prep beforehand for any one of the 3 times you’ve taken the SAT.

I’m probably going to take it a 5th time. Which I hate the idea of.

I took it freshman year, sophomore year, and junior year without studying. My score went up from freshman to sophomore year, but junior year it went down. So I took it a month later and only studying reading and writing, both of which went up (reading went up exponentially btw). But my math is still a bit below the middle 50% for the schools I’m applying to, and my writing would be higher but I bombed the essay last time. So i’ll probably take it again unless I dominate the ACT.

I think your reading always can improve. Your brain is still growing and your becoming a better reader as high school goes on.

3 times is generally considered a good amount. Colleges won’t look down on you if you take it more than 3 times. It’s just that after that point, taking the test again and again will produce diminishing returns (i.e. you will not improve your score significantly enough). This isn’t always true (for example, my 4th SAT was a 2270, significantly higher than my 3rd SAT, which was a 2120), but it is true in most cases.
