Red Carpet?

I'm going to the Red Carpet Society overnight soon. I'm getting really excited about being up at Cornell but I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't missing anything!

Does anyone have any tips regarding it or some kind of idea on what to expect other than Cornell?

for Cornell events, look to this website:

Cornell University - Events Calendar

Make sure you eat at a dining hall, meet a huge variety of people, don't act like a high schooler still under reigns of your parents, check out a few of the libraries around campus, take the official tour, perhaps sit in on a lecture, etc. Also, be independent - I've hosted people and it's a pain when high schoolers though of you as the be all end all of Cornell for the night ... bring some extra stuff so you're not tied to your host all the time and feel free to roam around campus at your own leisure.

Thank you gomestar for the feedback! I'm actually really glad to hear that you can go off on your own...

Anyone else?

when you are busy planning your clothes to not look too "high school" - don't forget a towel - every kid I know who stayed overnight anywhere forgot a towel...

if you have nothing planned to do, just go with the flow!
-be eager to hang out with us and with our friends! the main difference between high school and college is that for high school, you only see your friends during the day. at college, you see them 24/7.

come with questions about ANYTHING...about the application process, picking colleges, or cornell in general. we are obviously experienced in this so ask ANYTHING...really. dont be embarrassed to ask about school AND the social scene. remember, this is YOUR TRIP to learn as much as possible. take advantage of your stay

Don't reply too much on your host. They'll have midterms soon. So pretty much walk around by yourself, ask them if you can go with them to their class (if there's no exam), ask them if you can dine with them, recommendation for where to go and see, etc... About academic, simply ask them for a copy of syllabus of any of their class, the level of difficulty. All up to you.
By the way, make sure you have you Medical/ Parent permisson (whatever, I don't remember) and campus map with you all the time.

Thank you all for the advice! I'll definitely keep it in mind!
