I just realized that after I submitted my writing supplement that there was a formatting error that didn’t exist before. Now a couple of lines in my poem are positioned in the wrong place and I can’t go back and edit it, even though it’s an easy fix, this error really disrupts the flow. Even though I emailed them about it asking what I can do I’m pretty sure I just shot my chances of getting accepted; since my gpa was weak in my freshman/sophmore year, and my test scores are below their average. I was relying on my writing and managed to screwed it up. Good luck to everyone else though whether ED1, ED2, and Regular Decision.
@LooneyTunes the common app essay formatting stuff is seriously so messed up I promise you it won’t be the tipping point for your application. Admissions Officers are also used to reading grammatical/spelling errors in essays and just one error is never a deciding factor (I’m sure you find errors in books and stuff all the time, no proofreader is perfect).
@sailout That’s true. I’m just curious how lenient Reed will be with this because I was really content with what I wrote, and fixing the error is a matter of dragging a few lines. CommonApp (CommonCrap) manages to mess the formatting up even more when it’s poetry, I couldn’t have any stanzas. By the way did you receive any word from Reed yet? I wished they’d go back to email, so this sort of anxiety can alleviated.
So when I was just trying to submit my ED2 app, it asked for a parent’s signature or something, and by the time I got that from my dad, it was 12:00 am ( I live in the Midwest). So is it too late for me to be considered for Early Decision II or since there is a 3 hour time difference, will they still receive my application as being submitted on the 20th? ;n;
If it allowed you to submit the application as an ED applicant on the commonapp, I think you’re safe. However, I would still email the admissions dept. and just double check with them if everything is complete and received. It’ll reassure you that they got everything.
Still waiting on my decision…
The wait is killing me… I’ve been doing work next to the window so I can see when the mail comes.
Where are you located? I’m in Alabama.
I live near Washington DC.
Massachusetts
@whiselle I would call them. If I’m not mistaken someone from Washington received their decision already, and according to the fedex map you should’ve received it by now.
On the Reed admissions blog, someone from the Reed office said that they can’t release our decisions over the phone, but you can call to make sure they have the correct address.
I mean Washington DC on the East Coast! I should be receiving it today according to the map.
I just got my acceptance box today! Applied EDI. I’m in Northern California, so it could take a while for others too. This system totally sucks. Do you guys want my stats?
Yup!
ACT: 31
GPA: 3.82 (weighted, my school doesn’t submit unweighted GPAs)
Rank: Top 20%
Freshman year As and Bs, sophomore year Bs and one A and one C (I had health issues freshman and sophomore year, talked about it in additional information section of common app)
Junior year 4.4 GPA, two APs
Senior year 4 APs
Took 2 college psychology classes over summer breaks
ECs: Captain of school’s mock trial team (won county 20 years in a row), did Model UN, president of sexuality and gender alliance, president of psychology club, president of lunchtime Spanish immersion club, some volunteering freshman year
Several awards for mock trial and model UN
Essays - pretty good, my supplemental was better than common app
Recommendations - probably good as well, fairly close to teachers
Interview went well, lots of demonstrated interest
Well, it’s pretty late in the day and I can safely assume I won’t get anything in the mail today from them. I sort of understand why they thought it would be more exciting to receive acceptance boxes in the mail instead of by email, but it’s still a little frustrating. I especially don’t want to wait anxiously for a week or more only to get rejected, haha. Congrats @hablounpoquito , though!
Yes, congratulations!!
I emailed Reed, and got a response saying that my decision was mailed via “first class mail” on December 15th. If it’s not FedEx, it’s not good news! Oh well!
Did Reed only send epic acceptance boxes via FedEx? Or did they send using UPS or the US Postal Service?
