Regarding Financial Aid. Please Help

Hi, I have applied for UCLA in for the fall 2007 semester. I got a letter in the mail reminding me to apply for financial aid, which i am in need of, and I did not for the extra rewards. I plan on signing up for financial aid, but my question is: If you did not apply for FA prior to the MARCH due date does that affect your chances? and also I did not have a fee waiver for the application and just payed with my credit card and was wondering if that has anything to do with chances? Thanks in advance and good luck with this years admissions process.

Submit your fafsa right away. The priority deadline was mar 2nd. You might be getting certain grants or scholarships now, such as university grants, and regents/chancelors(provided you have the gpa). I'd recommend you get on it and submit by tomarrow or better yet, tonight. I submitted mine way before the mar 2nd deadline, just a habit that my current school got me into.

edit: might not* be getting certain grants....

If you miss the priority deadline, you will not get as much aid as you need. I know of one particular case: one friend, who is in a much better financial situation than another (like his family income is maybe $15,000 more) got a full ride to michigan, all need based. the other friend applied for aid after the priority deadline and didn't even get half of what the first friend got...apply asap!!!

So what everyone is saying is that If i have not yet applied for financial aid it could affect my chances of getting into the University? Thanks for the advice i will apply for it asap.

henryvisionp: No no no. Some universities do need-blind admissions or whatnot. Essentially, schools such as Harvard will admit you prior to checking your financial status. But if you can't pay, you can't go, true? More than likely depending on your situation, you'll still be able to go to college but you might have to take an additional loan or you might have to work more than the average student to cover tuition, rent, and other expenses. Don't give up, just apply for finanical aid ASAP and wait for the unoffical/offical financial aid packages to come in the mail. From there, you'll be able to determine whether you can attend a 4 year or not.
