Looking to transfer from CC to UC for Fall 2012. I'm starting to rack up some more volunteer hours through a Volunteers United meetup group. However, there's not really a leader of the group, nor is there any kind of roster of attendees; the events are open door and I log my own hours. Is it a problem that I have no documentation for the work I'm doing? If it is, what sort of documentation should I get?

Get a high GPA and complete major pre-reqs and you can’t throw your worry about these stuff into the waste basket.

They don’t ask for any verification of any volunteer programs you’ve been a part of and very few ask for verification of related work experience you’ve had (this is probably only the case if your work experience was extraordinary and that was the deciding factor; the same could be said of volunteer work as well, I guess). It’s unfortunate in that a lot of people lie (A LOT), but it also makes it easier on the applicant. Good luck.

I recall reading a small percentage (1-2%) of applicants are randomly selected to verify their activities. A letter from a boss stating you have been working there for X years or a person overseeing the volunteering would be suffice. I wouldn’t worry about the verification though especially since your extra curricular activity is common.

Systemwide random audits only go out to freshman applicants. If the campus chooses to audit you, you can provide an explanation that no one tracks the hour and request to submit proof for another activity.
