Just for the curiosity..
Does anyone have statistics on how many regents scholars with Alumni Leadership scholarship at Cal?

Is Alumni leadership scholarship much more competitive than the Regents?

I don't know how much overlap there is between the awards.

When I attended an alumni event, I remember hearing some statistics. I don't remember the exact numbers, but there were fewer Alumni scholarships awarded than Regents, making it slightly more competitive than the Regents scholarship.

fortunately, im a regents and alumni scholar
yes, both are very competitive, but somehow i feel that regents was more...
now, im not saying that getting invited for the regents interview was competitive -- no, that is pretty easy and berkeley does it to kind of hook applicants....getting the actual regents scholarship is very competitive...after all, it is THE most prestigious thing at any UC...
think about it, the scholars were invited to a reception with lunch where the chancellor gave a talk....since when do PUBLIC universities do this sort of thing? obviously, for the very best
the respect, prestige, and honor carried with regents is hard to beat

alumni scholarship is also very competitive, and special. unlike regents, it requires additional essays, additional application, and interview with more people...because now, berkeley is done "hooking" people (so hence no more "invitees" like in the regents stage) and now is simply making decisions.

basically, both scholarship are pretty damn cool as they are MERIT based and allow high achieving students to turn down ivies and private schools to remain close to home but with additional prestige and other benefits

this helps ya?

Since, you know, people care who the Regent scholars are past high school graduation.

hey bud, im comparing it to the alumni scholarship
relax a little huh?

Believe it or not, that angry nuance you added when you read my post wasn't intended, bud.

I heard they also have separate floors in the dorms specifically for Regent/Alumni scholars. It is a very prestigious award.

i'm pretty sure you heard wrong. regents do get guaranteed housing, however, and some people say they get priority housing picks as well, although i did not read that officially anywhere on the berkeley/regents site (was interviewed, but not awarded).

Regents do not get separate floors but they do get priority housing picks and guaranteed for 4 years.

Not that anyone would actually want to stay in the dorms for 4 years...
