This whole post is freaking me out…Really? There are no advisors to help with first-time registration for freshman? Current students…any advice?

Of course there are. What a silly thing to think…

“Of course there are” was helpful.
“What a silly thing to think…” was mean.
Try to remember what it was like to be a scared freshman.
Have a good day, aluminum boat.

I’m an incoming freshman in the fall, and here is a link to the Fall 2012 Class Schedule Listing by General Requirements:

I hope this helps you all It surely helped me!

So, looking at the links, it appears that Freshman have to take certain quantities of classes in specific categories over a two OR four year period. If you are going for Goiuzeta, which has 4 prerequisites, do you still need to take the 8 hours of a foreign language?

So, a first semester Freshman going into business needs a Freshman seminar, a writing class, a foreign language, microeconomics and a math?

That’s incorrect, there’s a definite order. Incoming freshmen who are Emory Scholars get the earliest time, and everyone else is then ranked by the number of incoming credit hours (such as from AP, IB, or college courses you took during high school and got credit for) so if you have more incoming credit hours you’ll get an earlier time.

Yes, you do still need 8 hrs of foreign language but that is only graduation, so don’t worry about having to take it right away; you have four years to do so. And that schedule seems fine, although you might want to substitute microecon for business econ (so you won’t have to take macroecon separately).

Also everyone in Class of 2014 or later should be aware that Emory is changing the credit hour system starting fall 2013. Instead of most classes being just 4 credit hrs, they will be closer to the actual number of hours the class meets per week. For most classes that will be 3 credit hours, but it will be more for science classes with labs (probably 6 credit hrs) or foreign language classes that meet 4 days a week. Here’s some more info about this:
