Hello,
My incoming freshman informs me her registration is online on July 28 or thereabouts. Can she receive any counselling on course selection? Also, it is possible she will be out of town and not have computer access at this time. What are the alternatives?

May help if you mention what your daughter would like to pursue at UR. Personally, I enjoyed getting the gen-eds out of the way early and felt that it exposed me to different areas of the university right from the get go.

Our advisors are supposed to contact us sometime before that so we can ask questions about what classes to pick.

I also plan on getting lots of my gen ed requirements out of the way ASAP.

Registration is really easy, and it's not just on the 28 of July, for incoming 2012s. Your registration period would end on August 8th, so you can register and change your registration at any point during that time span. OF course, logging in at 9 a.m. on July 28th will be the best chance you have at getting the classes you really want at the times you want and with your choice professors, but things to open up later in the week, as well as in the add/drop period. Professors are usually very happy to provide you with an override, too, depending on the circumstance.
