Regular Decision 2020

ACCEPTED. OOS from Maryland, and FA applicant. 2130 SAT 10 APs Lots of Community service, Research, Sports, and Music.

Rejected… anyone know the admission rate for international students ?

Waitlisted OOS (NJ)…decent stats and essays…:confused:

Deferred EA, accepted today! Oos, 36 Act, 3.96 uw,

Thanks to all those who commented back to me. I’m a little upset (as my post probably indicated), but I’m looking forward to next fall, wherever I end up. Everyone here is so deserving of greatness and I’m sure we will all find a place that’s best for us.

Rejected OOS after being deferred… Super super bummed… Go Iowa state ughhh (but not really)

Waitlisted international… 2120 SAT
Congratulations to everyone who got in!!! I probably won’t stay on the waitlist (I’m attending UCSD) and hopefully some of you talented people will get off the waitlist!!!

I was deferred EA, but accepted RD OOS! Total shock. I thought I had no chance when I was deferred because I applied for engineering. So excited and can’t wait to figure out where I am going to go!

Also deferred EA. I was positive they were waiting on my mid year report though so I think that’s what got me in RD!

@826mgs what engineering?

Not even officially a Hoo yet but already super stoked about UVA’s advancement into Elite Eight!!! #Wahoowa!!

@bluepaint1 electrical

Rejected :frowning: UVA was always my reach so it was expected. I guess tech is where I’m meant to be!

Got in! 4.5 gpa weighted- took 10 AP classes, 2110 on sat, top 4% of my class in very competitive NOVA high school. Honestly didn’t do tons of extracurriculars. For any upcoming seniors my recommendation is to take the toughest classes your school offers and focus on getting good grades in your core classes. Also maybe don’t try to do every sport or extracurricular under the sun. Focus on a couple of your passions. For example I became the president of two clubs and did one varsity sport. Just out of curiosity, does anybody know how many applicants there were this year? I feel as though it was extra competitive because I know many talented students who did not get in!

ACCEPTED oos which I did not expect AT ALL cause I’m from Long Island and I heard they were super selective for LI applicants so hey

ACCEPTED <3 oos 3.1 UW and 2060 SAT. IB diploma curriculum, rigorous courses, international school outside of the US

@keall123 Dean J is posting stats Monday on the blog. I also feel like the applicant pool was very competitive this year.

MyUVA and SIS are different things! Your application and financial info is in SIS.

The link to the Facebook group has been on the blog for months. I posted it again last night.

Yes. Strength of program is a huge factor. GPAs are close to meaningless. GPA calculations vary dramatically from place to place. Course selection and grades are more compelling that the GPA that attempts to summarize them.

When it comes to courses, context is key. The school presents a school profile that explains what courses are available to the students. We aren’t looking for a certain number of Honors/AP/IB/DE courses since the options are different from school to school.

You must register. A Days on the Lawn email is coming today

Remember, no one comes into the School of Engineering with a major. Majors are declared in that school at the end of the first year.

I’ll have a statistics post on the blog Monday or Tuesday.

We do not have a different review that is more selective for certain schools, towns, counties, or regions. In our review, you are either a Virginia resident or OOS (out of state). Congrats!

The pool is competitive every year, so congratulations to those with admission officers. To this with an offer to be on the waiting list, remember that you need to opt into that.

does anyone know if there’s a scholars program for the school of architecture?

@Dean J Earlier you wrote that as admissions directors read files, they take notes and make a recommendation to admit, defer or deny. I was wondering if once a decision to admit is made is that final or can that be changed to deny, wait list or defer? And if it can be changed, does that happen often?
