wierd. i live in maryland and disnt receive anything today.

You think they’re still setting up our accounts tonight?

It’s really cumbersome to go back and read this thread from the beginning, but I’d recommend you all go back and read starting around page 10.

There was a strange link in the old portal that the “Congratulations” letters were found in. I think it was called, “Enrollment Grad school of Comm” which was hilarious because everyone checking was certainly not being accepted into grad school. Anyway, that link is gone now. So even those who saw their “Congratulations” letters can no longer see them. You are all looking for something that cannot be found now even by people that previously saw the “Congratulations.” Thought I owed it to you to tell you that because I understand the anxiety.

Some people who saw their “Congrats letters” cannot see anything in their Financial Aid: Award letter link in the new portal but apparently others can. But others can see their award in the “Financial Aid: Loan Adjustment Request” link in the new portal even though they cannot see their letter. All of this was discussed earlier.

The alphabetical loading vs. regional loading of data or application date making a difference I am sure are red herrings. There is no rhyme nor reason for any of it. Let that go.

May the fat white envelopes be with all of you. Just thought I’d pop back in and say… go back to page 10. Answers are there.

Sorry halflokum, are you being mysterious for a reason? I really am unable to figure out exactly what you are trying to say here.

@myjanda. Interesting and unexpected take on my post. Not mysterious. I thought I was pretty detailed and straight forward about what I wrote. I attempted to reset the dial to be helpful. I am reporting accurately the experience that I and others had with this work around backdoor way of trying to figure out acceptances before letters arrive. That was 23 pages ago in this thread. You can go back to page 10 of this thread and see that there was a period when the ability to create a student account was down for many hours. Some of us had created accounts before it went down and could see things that others could not when it came back up. I think there are at least 6 people that either liked my post or found it helpful so far that are understanding what I wrote.

I agree with @halflokum! The portal seems too inconsistent at this point to take its significance for granted. The only way to know definitively is to receive a letter.

May the odds be ever in your favor! Lol

Though I couldn’t see my actual award letter, I was able to see what I believe is my award under the Financial Aid: Loan Adjustment Request. While I’m happy I got in, the financial aid was pretty disappointing. I only received about a quarter of what I would have expected, and the majority was loans. I wonder if it was because I didn’t show much interest in American, never interviewed, etc. I’m still holding out hope that a bigger award will come in the mail if I get a letter from American today.

i haven’t gotten a letter and can’t see my financial aid online, however, i can go to loan adjustments and see amounts “pending” specifically for me. i know not to rely on the portal, but does this mean i’m in?

@hopmayer Yes! Congrats!

@halflokum, no offense meant. Your comment to go back to page 10, the answers are there, sounded like a clue to something. I did go back and see that people were confused then and still are, so didn’t see any aha information on page 10. Some people have portals full of personal info, some have made portals but can’t find any real info (like my D) and others can’t log in. At this point I would assume anyone who logs in and finds a congratulations message, or financial aid etc can assume they are admitted. Those with unhelpful portals or who can’t log in should not assume anything until they get their letters. I think that might be what you were trying to imply, but it wasn’t clear to me, that is all.
This whole college application process gets everyone on edge, so once again, I wasn’t trying to offend, and my comment was somewhat tongue in cheek.

@myjanda sorry. I thought I was being clearer than I was and I get where you are coming from now. I was actually addressing the many questions about where the heck the congratulations letters that people were searching for were found (and now not found.) Around page 10 was when the portal had come back up after being down for a good part of the day. From that point on, nobody could find that letter any more. (There were a couple who suggested they could in another link but I’m dubious about how real that was.) In fact on page 19, on March 17 at 4:25 PM (west coast?)post that I made and in one lower on that same page, it is mentioned and confirmed by others that they couldn’t see it any more. Earlier on this thread, a poster named lukethedukee gave some of the most detailed instructions on where to look for all of this stuff and I found everything he said to be true, We followed what he said and were successful. What I was trying to say above is that the “congrats” letter is now nowhere to be found but the financial aid info might still be. Good luck to one and all. I hope the envelopes arrive soon and this whole portal mess quickly becomes next year’s applicants job to sort out. But for now, I was grateful that somebody clever discovered it and it did at least give a window into the status.

You’re welcome lol

Haha good one but you may need to wrestle Johana13 from March last year for the credit

@daniellehorowitz REALLY? ARE YOU SURE?
