Hey all, my D got rejected from the University of Michigan via email, but then an hour later received an email from their Head of Performance asking for her number to call her some time next week (he said he wanted to wait till next week to have his notes with him.) Can anyone shed some light on what’s going on here?
Was it an academic or audition rejection?
When I talked to her she seemed to think it was an audition rejection, but I suppose it could’ve been an academic rejection (although I doubt it.) What difference do you think that would make? I’m trying to help her understand the situation but she’s panicking so any and all information you can give would be greatly appreciated.
Well my only thought (a friend and I were discussing so it was really her) is that if it was an academic rejection (since Michigan is so tough) that maybe they want to review her file for reconsideration. Or perhaps if she was MT as a redirect to voice or acting (or vice verse if she was an acting candidate). Just some thoughts. I think this is definitely odd.
Yeah that would make sense, it’s just so strange since my guess is they’re not quite as strict academically on the MT/acting kids and her grades and SAT are pretty strong. Just a really weird situation.
I believe you have to be academically cleared to audition. So I don’t think it is that.
Perhaps they want to see if she’d accept LSA instead?
It sounds like it is a call worth making in any event.
I mean that could be, but then why would a Professor from the MT department who’s the Head of Performance want to call her?
Is it possible there is a different bucket in that school she might fall into? Maybe voice but not MT? Hard to say. Good luck though!
It seems a little thoughtless for him to keep her in suspense until next week.
Good luck - I hope it’s some sort of good news!
Please keep us posted!!
agreed - keep us posted to let us know what happened
